Hi guys new to the forum. Just found Oolite after pledging to Elite:Dangerous on kickstarter. Anyway, is there any place were i can download all the OXP's at one place rather than searching for them one at a time?

cheers for the help and advice

Hi Jacksy, welcome to the forum! The [wiki]OXP List[/wiki] is probably the best place to start looking. I wouldn't recommend downloading all the OXPs in one go, though - there are a lot of them, for a start!

Hi Disembodied
Thanks for the welcome. As I am a newby to the game what OXP's would you or anyone else recommend to get started? I have Oolite-1.76.1 version of the game is that the latest version?

Hi jacksy, and welcome aboard. The usual advice is stick to eye-candy at first - i.e. a ship texture set, a planet texture set and a hud. That OXP list has sections and is sortable, so have a good browse there. There are many different views among players as to which OXPs should be installed. Yes, 1.76.1 is the latest version.

Indeed yes! :D EV is right, sticking to eye-candy is probably for the best to begin with, and then add in some more as you find out what sort of game you want to play.

Recommendations for eye-candy would be based in part on the power of your system, but top of the list would almost certainly be

Griff's Normalmapped Ships
http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Griff_Industries

If this is too chunky for your system (as it is for mine :() then you can still enjoy much of the griffy goodness with the

Griff No Shaders Shipset
http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Griff% ... rs_Shipset

I would also recommend the

BGS background set
http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/BGS

and

Random Ship Names
http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Randomshipnames_OXP

as generally beautifying the whole experience.

The topic is not Oolite for Windows specific, moved to Discussion.

Would I be correct in saying that you get the base Povray Planets base OXP then download one of the galaxies? or all of the galaxies?

Despite the instructions, you should avoid the "base" OXP, which is only needed if you are trying to make Povray Planets work alongside other planet-texture OXPs. "Just" (600MB) get the Galaxy 1 texture pack at first.

Probably a bandwidth problem at the author's end... but Oolite's own planets will serve nicely in the meantime.
