Nice to see the map filling up now, although why we have eight Drews is beyond me!

The amount of work he does has necessitated cloning of multiple Drews.

Probably my fault. It seems to bomb out on me when I place the pin, so I had a few goes at it. Choose the one nearest to Kingsnorth in Kent and delete the rest! :)

Cheers,

Drew.

Y'know, given Oolite's raging popularity in Russia I'm surprised there are no pins there.

Come on, you lot!

Is there a link to the map on roolite.org?

Nope, and I wouldn't even know how to suggest it. I do speak and read a little Russian (GCSE grade), but nowhere near the level needed for this site.

Edit: I've posted a topic there about it, using Google translate to attempt to write it in Russian. Hey, at least I've made an effort! You may now call me Селезень.

Interestingly, my username is actually a Russian word. :-)

I've jumped in to stake my claim on this new system. I'll take the location known as 'Perth' to the existing inhabitants.

Signing off...

(P.S. This map got me thinking of another idea...a site where everyone can upload their latest game save and it will plot the last save location on one of the eight charts....just so one can see where the action really is...)

It seems that the pinmaps people have decided to go subscription based, and therefore the Oolite pinmap can no longer be accessed. When I went to have a look earlier I was presented with this page!
http://www.pinmaps.net/map/11810/oolite ... s#vlad1965
and upon logging-in this
http://www.pinmaps.net/Users/Announcement.aspx
It seems that for the basic free service you can only have one map with up to 30 pins, and the Oolite map already has 56, so we're stuffed!

bleedin' typical...

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

OK, in order to try and get round this I'm trying Google Maps again. I've created a shared map on my Google Maps account and shared it with THE WORLD!!!

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&m ... 82f70732ea

Give it a try and let me know if you can see it. If so, I'll try and clarify how to add details to the pins.

Once you're in the map, there should be an EDIT button. Click that and you should get a list of the pin points. Scroll the map around or search for your location and it should come up. Then click on the purple pin icon at the top left of the map and it should allow you to place a pin. Enter your details and you're away!.

The sidebar on the left should show everyone's marker. I'm not sure if it will let you edit those markers at the moment (it does for me, but that might be cos it's my own map).

I think you may need a google account for it.

Update: I've just spent some time copying the details from the old map to the google map. Everyone that was previously registered there has now been migrated across.

Once people have had a chance to envision the new hotness (or at least free-ness) of the new location, it might be worth updating the original post to highlight that it's been moved.

Bloody money grabbing gits.
