I love it!
Thruth be told, this FAQ raises more questions than it answers, but it's brilliantly teasing.
And funny.

Yes.
Isn't it perfectly clear?
He is somewhere in GalTwo, so get a G-drive fitted and follow him.
Just dock at a few of the stations around the spot where you get dumped out of the wormhole tunnel, you'll pick up his trail soon enough.

OK I got the blighter last night, finding him after the "There's a deadly pirate out there" message was the most difficult bit.
As far as the mission is concerned following and finding him is true to Classic Elite, however the combat is so different.
I was able to to take him out with the laser, but boy was he fast, really really fast. The duel only lasted about a minute though , so to be frank I was a bit surprised, I expected it to be a lot harder. Perhaps I was just lucky.
In previous versions of Elite that I've played, it took much much longer, he had really strong shielding and a very fast restore rate so therefore required many more laser hits, also he was so agile turning and climbing, that trying to get a bead on him was really difficult, by the time you finally got him your fingers ached, and the adrenelin was seriously pumping.
To be honest I've found iron ass ferdies to be more difficult opponents.
So was I lucky, was it my phenominal combat skills, or is he a wimp?

I think you're right. his only real forté is the great speed, and high regenerative ability, ideal for his hit-and-run tactic, but with a well-aimed ML salvo, he could seem easily dunfer. he may often escape, but is unlikely to make the fingers hurt.
don't know abour Ferdies being more fierce though. those guys are like fishing cod.

I had to follow the Constrictor on afterburner, but since he was running in a straight line it wasn’t a great problem. :-)

I got this mission not long after the Q-bomb was introduced. Guess what happened to my Constrictor
