Computer Docking Uses

This is primarily a thread to find out if the same script that will auto dock a ship with a Station, could be altered slightly to dock, and hold a ship at some point around the Station. The Station I'm speaking of is the Mandotech Industries ship building facility, which has four massive scaffolds for ship construction, and refit/repairs. It would be great to make it seem busy, rather than just twirling around in space above the planet, always empty of ships. Just wondering.

Interesting looking station. I look forward to seeing it when the scaffolds are added.

Well, those big square units are meant to be scaffold, but like I said, without being able to get a model to hang inside them, as if they are being worked on, the scaffolds look awfully empty. I suppose I could try putting a ship in there by making a ship model a subentity of the station. Hmm, I wonder if I could pull that off. Might have to try it.

That's by far the easiest way to do this, and it can work very nicely.
The [wiki]Buoy_Repair_Facility[/wiki] stations have a similar external dock into which ships can move in and out of, though it requires quite a bit of scripting.

To look really good, the ship/s would need to be only partially constructed. Maybe adapt some of your 'cutaway' models if this can be done?

Yeah, a partially built ship would be perfect. I'll get to work on it.
