Hey there ooliters! I have been playing oolite just a coule of days and trying out a few oxp's some of which i can get to work just fine where as others seem to have no effect, it's kind of frustrating as i know the ones i cant get running work just fine for other users as i have seen them in use on youtube. For example i can get Deepspace ships oxp to work fine yet i cant get any of griff's stuff to work, kind of a bummer as his ship sets are by far the best out there imo. There are others that i cant get to run either but i wont list them lol, any help in this would be great, tnx.

Usual...

Post your Latest.log file (encased in a code block - [ code ][ /code ] - without the spaces). Also post your computer specs, OS, CPU, GFX Card... that sort of info.

What he said, especially the Latest.log (on Windows, it's found here ~\Oolite\oolite.app\Logs - and welcome aboard!

In short: Depending on your OS you'll have to place the oxp folders (e.g. deepspace.oxp) into a folder called Addons

E.g. On Linux create a folder called "Addons" in ~/.Oolite. Mind Linux is case sensitive.
(On Windows, iirc, you have to create the Addons folder in the Oolite Install Directory. case is not important)

Unzip the OXP Archive you donwloaded from the Box.net. Usually you'll find a another folder named "name_of_addon.oxp", which has to be moved into the Addons folder.

hope it helps

Make sure that the name of each folder in AddOns ends with ".oxp".

As others already said, we'll need your Latest.log to help you beyond that.

Are you sure that the folders in the /AddOns folder have .oxp at the end?

Edit: Also, did you install Oolite to the root directory, C:\ ?

Okay... Oolite is not reading those two OXPs. Either they are not actually in your AddOns folder, or they are not correctly named. They should appear thus:

Code: Select all

Griff_Shipset_Replace_v1.34.oxp
Griff_Shipset_Resources_v1.2.25.oxp
Check your AddOns folder.

have to say this is by far the quickest replies i have had on any game forum lol i have only just knoticed the files for the oxp's only contain readme's, the actual oxp isnt in the oxp folder :?

When you extract the .zip, the first folder shown should (does) contain both the .oxp and the readme.

Usually the OXP folder and files are nested within a parent folder which itself has the OXP's readme.

Ok i just intalled the realistic stars oxp and it works fine, when i look in the addons folder and click the oxp folder both the oxp file and the readme are shown, in the ones i cant get to work only the readme is available in the oxp's folder.

What specific OXPs aren't working? Sometimes there are several nested folders (I just checked my archive of DeepHorizons-Systems and had to go into two folders to find the oxp folder.

Edit to fix brain fart

I'd suggest deleting the two Griff folders from your Addons, and extracting the two OXPs from the .zips again from scratch - take it from there.

Yay! That's a brilliant oxp, great taste! :D
Is Windows blocking the .oxp directory? Right click on the zip and look at the properties, there may be a button at the bottom mentioning it's blocked stuff that it considers insecure.
Third party zip program? If not, try something like 7zip, if so try using the windows native zip (explorer)
