High speed hardened missiles

One thing that occurred to me is how slow the missiles are in elite/oolite compared to the speed of ships.

My suggestion would be the development of fast missiles with a speed of something like 0.8LM however in order to avoid unbalancing the game the destructive power of the missiles could be offset by the speed so that a number of missile hits would be required to destroy a cobra mark 3 NPC ship.

What are people's thoughts on this ?

They already exist as OXPs.. faster, hardened, packing less of a punch.

Missiles are quick compared to core ships sans injectors.

It's mainly the steady march towards the blandness of uberness that has rendered standard missiles somewhat less than lethal nowadays

See also my Nexus missiles (if you'd be so good). One of those goes at 0.75, another at 0.78, and another at (0.76 + fuel injection). And they have advantages other than speed. The problem is, they are expensive and somewhat hard to find.
