Haven't started on that yet. Do me a favor and post/send me what you have? Maybe I can pick out what's borked.

EDIT: v2.1.1 is posted. It expands the 249th's populator script to include Bravo and Charlie squads as active in every system.

Maybe I could help.
Both of you.

Here's a station I once made for Cmd. Cheyd for a project of his, but AFAIK nothing came out of it... :(
https://app.box.com/s/p52h0w4wj3hxq5h3i4mi
Anyway, it has a working dock in non-standard place, the script should spawn a couple of these EVERY time you launch.
The textures are just placeholders :).

As for the offender-/fugitive -hunt mission, I think you need to set up a counter that gets also saved in savefile for both single mission kill count(s) and discount level in the station. Basically Galactic Navy does something like this.

PM me your e-mail(s) if you want me to mess up with your work, both or either of you (Rese & Mando)

I'm going to have to introduce the 249th to Jaguar Company and see what happens.

Oorah! Maybe get some cooperation scripted, like in a heavily hostile system. Anarchy systems?

EDIT: Maybe I could borrow jaguar_company_patrolAI.plist? Make a separate OXP with shipdata-overrides for some of the 249th ships?

v2.5.0 is up!

This one introduces a new naming scheme and a new Squad, Serpent Squad, containing the master Shipbuilder's Serpent Class Cruiser and Colonial Viper mk1 as the new squad.

As usual, the original ship OXPs by Shipbuilder must be present for Serpent Squad to be present.

After a bit of thought, I've decided on a rough background story for the 249th, based in part on an Ooniverse with Factions.oxp in it.

When the Thargoid menace first reared its head, an impromptu alliance between 249 different Democratic systems issued military grade lasers to their merchant marine force. After the initial mobilization, these merchant marines kept their weapons and continued recruiting and training forces.
The 249th Naval Reserve Wing was established to give these vessels an official standing with Galcop. Each Democratic system navy has a 249th NRW on their roster. In practice, it is a formidable militia. Negotiations and design collaboration are in progress to establish a heavy capital ship as the local 249th Naval Reserve Headquarters, which may also be sent out to nearby multigovernment systems in a state of factional strife in order to rack up funding and practice in the form of bounty.

Rese249er - I must just say that I think that you have done a great job with this OXP.

The 249th definitely came in useful yesterday whilst I was in a particularly sticky situation with a large group if pirates.

I had just dropped out of witchspace and set a course directly for Zaalela, (Tech Level 5 Feudal system in Galaxy 1), when I encountered a group of 4 pirates. Not wanting to disappoint them I decided to go for a full frontal assault. Unfortunately for me just after getting involved in a little jousting a second group of pirates appeared.

I had already taken a hit that had caused a fuel leak so the fuel injectors were useless and I was staring to receive damage from all around. The next thing I noticed was a group of purple blips on the scanner so decided to head for them in the hope of gaining some assistance whilst taking out a couple of the chasing pack with the rear laser.

As it turned out it was a patrol from the 249th reserve which answered my need for assistance and joined the fray.

With the pirates distracted by multiple targets my shields quickly recharged allowing me to swing back and get stuck in again.

A short while later the combined efforts of myself and the 249th had converted the group of pirates and fugitives to stardust.

I them scooped up the floating cargo, saluted the 249th and continued my journey to the system planet.

That's the kind of tale I love! I fall in formation with any 249th members whenever I can.

Mind you, when engaged in a little "extralegal" activity, they tend to cause sticky situations. They hang around at Main Stations issuing threats and challenges to offenders with even minor bounties on their heads, and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

"Goddamn self-righteous Space Cowboys", is how one smuggler character of mine has taken to calling them.

He has quite a few of the 249th on his trophy board..
