I think I broke the Ooniverse? help

Ok i had Oolite runnig fine and then started adding oxp's some ran some not it was all going so well,, now i have tampered with something posably a GMUsetup folder? not sure though..

anyway i get the Oolite opening screen/logo thingy and then nothing,, it won't launch i tried a reinstall but it didnt work....here's my lasted log. can anyone help me pleeease?

Heh... and I'm a trespasser in the Linux forum, as I use Windows and know zilch about Linux!

Hi 64cousins, and welcome.
ElViejo is probably right - many OXPs will not run with older versions of Oolite, and unfortunately many of the Linux repos have not yet caught up. v1.76.1 is the current version, and can be got from here.
Normally the install of the new version will over-write any previous version, so I'd try that first, and if that doesn't work, try a clean re-install. Ask here if you are not sure and we'll sort you out and hopefully get you running again.

You could try the 'nosplash' option... I'm only guessing though. You can ignore the 'debug console' message... it's harmless.

Yes, and you could try the -fullscreen option too. See the wiki for more info, here. The wiki doesn't show what to do under Linux, but the parameters are the same. I guess you could launch Oolite from the command line similar to this:

nosplash? whats that? how?

im not sure what im doing?
maybe i should a total uninstall, how do i make sure its done right? also want to make sure i install corectly and im all new to the terminal commands.
also im running a ati hd5770, it was working fine and still does for other games and stuff.

Try deleting or moving the file

You will need to set the game config up again from scratch, but that file is capable of storing bad settings or combinations of settings between installs.

A couple of things that might help us...what flavour of Linux are you using, and did you originally do a home-folder or system-wide install?

OK i have mint maya.
i originaly installed the old version of the game from the software manager so i dont know how it did it.
i installed the newer version in the terminal and it gave me the system wide or home folder option. i went with home.
i think it installed ok as it option to play appeared in my start menu, (Oolite Oolite.org) but stiil when i click on it i get the open screen and then it vanishes... allmost like its going to go to fullscreen if that makes any sense,
i've lots of files called GNUstepup deleted them all but..
i should say that ive have nothing on my computer that i need to keep yet as its only been running linux for a month.

here's where i am now.
uninstalled oolite then searched for all oolite folders and files that i could find and deleted the lot, not sure if this is the way to go?
it looks as though i got everything, is there any way of checking?
if i reinstall now im hoping whatever i did will be undone,,,,,,,,,,,,(im not confident)

What do you guys think?

ok that worked... i now have a working up to date version running thanks for all your help, now to install some OXPs.
