this could mean a serious graphic overhaul since it has proven to revitalize very old games and it could add several things to the engine that would be very very usefull is called ENB is a universal .dll made to enhance graphical experience in almost ANY game, it injects itself into the game progress, it gives things like motion blur, Field of View enhance particle system, lighting specular and LOTS of things... but it needs a powerfull computer so you can try different configurations because the default one is usually bad

From what I can read on the developers site it only supports Direct X at the moment. An Open GL version is planned, so I guess we will have to wait. Interesting concept though.

Hah, yes... I've played Minecraft with ENB, spent a week getting the thing sorted but my god... is it ever worth it.

What it really enhances is the sense of depth, sure the screenshots look pretty and for example the GTAIV screens on their site show how "real" stuff can look but believe me, it's that feeling of depth, immersion that you get when seeing the thing in action in front of your own eyes that will blow you away... in a space game this would probably make your brain dribble out your ears with the sheer feeling of infinity while staring into the void.

A reasonably powerful setup can handle this with some thought and a little sacrifice, you can fiddle around with motion blur etc (because usually that's way over the top anyway and is 90% of the performance issue cause imo) and it's not that vicious on performance once you tone that down a bit.

The other thing it does is give AO and bloom which I can imagine combined with that great sense of depth would make hd planets look insane in Oolite.

I don't think Oolite supports AO at all?
I've tried forcing it via my card's overrides (forced AA etc this way) but it doesn't want to play ball.

Shame there's no Open GL version of this yet, can you imagine Griff's ships with this?

But yeah, Oolite is (imo) fairly reasonable for performance even with lots of eye candy oxps, so if you have a pc that can run say, vanilla skyrim on decent settings then running Oolite with stripped down ENB and a playable framerate is doable.

Hang on (edit number 2 lol), I'm 90% sure I've also played minecraft with glsl shaders... that would work in Oolite no?
Or is it the same thing?

Obviously I have no idea what I'm talking about on a technical level, I just like my games to look maximus shinymus.
