Mouse not working

Hi all

Just installed Oolite - all went fine and the game runs. However the mouse doesn't seem to work. Yep - I have switched to full screen. I've read all I can find in terms of the faq's and instructions etc. My system is nothing special - just an up-to-date XP Pro pc and standard Logitech KB and mouse.

Oh and while I am here, is there a way to switch the up/down directions? In FFE it was possible, if using a mouse, to switch the direction of the up/down control so that direction controls went where you point rather than the way that you would expect with a joystick.

thanks
Bryan

Hi BryanH, and welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat.
I can't help with your problem, I'm afraid, but someone will be along soon who can I expect.

Greetings, BryanH, and welcome!

It would be helpful for us to know which version of Oolite you are running. Perhaps posting the content of latest.log as well.

Also, you could browse the Windows forum and search whether somebody else had a similar problem, and what the solution was.

Hi BryanH and welcome aboard. I'm using XP Pro and a basic Logitech mouse, and it works fine here (Oolite 1.76.1).
I'll have to ask the really basic question, just in case: have you toggled mouse-control on with shift+m? (Apologies in advance.)

Thanks guys. Turns out that it isn't set by default - you do indeed have to toggle it the first time so that was the secret. As for the other issue, I suspect that there is no option to reverse the up/down control - sadly for me. After years of playing the original games (yes, even FFE - to elite status) with a mouse set to go where I point, I find I just can't handle movement going down when I move the mouse forwards! I want it to go where I point. I don't suppose this would be something that could be easily added? Frontier did add it for FFE so obviously they thought it was a good idea too. And I must admit I miss Newtonian motion as well but I realise that this would not be reflective of the original - and a huge rewrite too so not asking for that. I did download the russian rewrite of FFE but couldn't get it to run - have to have Directx v9 apparently - weird really since directx has moved on since then and I don't want to load back an old version. Strange that they would hardcode for a specific version of directx. Anyway, back to waiting for Elite 4 I guess (snicker!).

There is a Frontier remake under the name of Pioneer, which could be of interest for you. I'm sure somebody will be here with a link in just a moment.

Last I heard, the Pioneer Naval Attaché was on her way to Beta Hydri... with a clapped-out hyperdrive!
