I was wondering if there was any interest in having named Octant's!(Or as nearly everyone else calls them Galaxies!) As was mentioned
here .
And may I be as bold to make the first suggestion for my favourite Octant the seventh: Septumus
So my favourite planet would be Erbieder in Septumus

This has come up before. They were actually named in some versions of Elite; definitely in the version I played as a kid on the Acorn Archimedes. "Galaxy 1" was known as "Santaari". Hold on a moment while I install the Oolite Bulletin Board search plugin for Firefox...
There we go! Have a look at
this...

You would really have thought I would have learned by now to check a bit more thoroughly before posting...
Thanks Mauiby.

They are named thus on the Oolite galaxies spreadsheet too... but I very much doubt that named galaxies will ever happen in core Oolite, which is sad.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

The ability to add galaxy names as expansions has already happened. From cim's yesterday's commit log:
new "long-range-chart-title-N" descriptions.plist entries for individually-named galaxies

Yeah, I am aware of that. They'd need to be universally used, or it means little/nothing to me.

Haven't they already been named on the galactic maps available on the wiki?

Is there an OXP which adds named galaxies?
