I can't get Oolite to start. I keep getting this error box. I have re-installed it and re-started my computer a number of times.

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005).

Is it me?

Do you have antivirus software running and, if yes, is it Avast by any chance?

I can confirm it works fine for me (Win7-64bit, M$ essentials), just for cross-reference.

That antivirus software probably detected a "worm" (or the "worm-miner") in Oolite.

Of course and YES!

I went into Avast and put it on the trusted processes list and it now runs nicely. Thanks for the quick fix :D
Now you mention it I recall this conversation not that long ago! Maybe I should pay more attention
