oolite.org changed?

Post by SandJ »

Am I being stupid or has something happened to oolite.org ?

I was looking for the download page for the 64 bit version of Oolite for Ubuntu.

Am I being stupid or are
http://www.oolite.org/download
and
http://oolite.org/
not doing what they were before?

I did find what I was looking for (oolite-1.76.linux-x86_64.tgz) at developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3577&release_id=18857 but it is odd that the "project oolite news" at http://developer.berlios.de/forum/forum ... m_id=37645 points at http://www.oolite.org which is showing the Berlios home page.

Hmm, odd. It's mirrored to Sourceforge now, I believe... this link may help.

I notice that someone has spelt laser as 'lazer', and there are no reviews as yet!

Wait, so the homepage has just been scrapped? Or is it being rebuilt somewhere else?

I expect it will return soon, OotL. Someone at the Admiralty will know.

Wow the site is offline for a long time now. I'm still being redirected to the BerliOS page.

The BerliOS stats page seems to say that there have been no downloads of Oolite since 24/2/12... odd that!

I downloaded the amd64 Linux version on 4th April: graph

and the stats for oolite-linux suggest something gets downloaded about 130 times a day: graph

Am I looking in a different place (e.g. graphs v number tables) or at a different thing (e.g. Linux v PC)?

Yeah, the sourceforge mirror shows downloads. Maybe the BerliOS page stopped listing downloads when it got mirrored to sourceforge.

What would I know, I'm just a dumb pilot!

Just to let you know, the oolite.org site is still safe and sound, and temporarily accessible via

http://oolite-linux.berlios.de

And there's always some truth in dumb pilots' words! ( maybe not always easy to find, though! :P )

Anyway, it seems berlios moved a few servers & settings around, meaning that oolite.org was suddenly pointing at the empty space where a virtual server used to be.
The relevant settings have just been updated, but this being easter weekend, it might take a while for oolite.org to finally point to what we've been assured is a new! improved! virtual server...

Cheers,

Kaks.
