Unknown (Multiplayer clone for iOS)

Hi,
I'm new to the forum but people in the chat channels (#oolite, #oolite-dev) will know me. I've been working on an clone for iOS for some months and I thought someone here might want to participate in the beta testing.

The game itself is nowhere as open and modular as Oolite, but we have a few interesting (I hope!) features such as multiplayer.

So if you feel like helping us out with the testing, please head over to:

The more testers we get the more robust we can make multiplayer, so any help in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks..!

No worries about the moderator delay, it was quick enough!

Oh, is that what an iPad is for!

Good luck with your remake. Image And now we know where to send people who want a multi-user Oolite...

(Does this warrant being in Board index » Oolite-Development » Porting to other platforms ? )

No, Mike's Elite clone is completely unconnected to Oolite.

Just wanted to say we just had a quite successful multiplayer test, which was very interesting to see after all this work. I'd gladly accept more beta testers if anyone still wants to get onboard. We have yet to try a 4 players session, not to mention just general gameplay testing.

Looks awesome! Will download as soon as possible.

Be careful though - the first comment there looks like it is asking for the game to be payware - make sure you state somewhere on the product page that the game is for NON-PROFIT use only or Frontier Developments may get it taken down.

Good effort though. :-)

Selezen, the game is free and clearly stated so on the App Store.

Yeah, I know. I was talking about the COMMENTS. Players/purchasers are commenting that it should be payware. I was just, y'know, saying it pays to be careful, especially in light of the New Kind Incident. Something in the game that states Unknown should be FREE and if it's NOT FREE then SOMEONE needs their ASS KICKED would be a good idea...

It's a great job (played it over lunchtime) and it would be a shame for a "misunderstanding" to arise and Adm. Braben to lay down the hand of Ban because of some comments.

Salezen, sorry I read your first comment too hastily. Yeah I see what you mean now..

I've been playing this quite a lot over the last few days, and it's great!

Anyone into Elite who owns an iPhone or iPad should download this pronto.

Personally I like the fact that the docking is quite forgiving; you can let the entry slot rotate as you go in and you'll survive :D

As I do not own any iOS device, the one thing I would like to see is how a player controls the ship - is it touch/ gestures "only" ? Or does it make use of gyro- or acceleration sensors ?

Might be interesting to see a video of someone playing the game. Not so much see the game itself, but the player playing. :D

It is played by swipe gestures: left/right for roll, up/down for pitch, and one special zone to increase/decrease speed. Like in the original Elite, there is no yaw.
