Deliberate misjumps for anti-Thargoid missions

I've searched the foruu for instructions on how to induce deliberate misjumps and found the suggestion "pull back hard on the stick as the counter reaches 0" but it doesn't seem to be working.
Can someone tell me how to do this please? I'm using 1.76 and I've tried about a dozen times, and it's now nearly one in the morning and I'm still not getting there!

Use the keyboard... it often doesn't work with the joystick.
Oh... pull up hard as the count hits one.

(Also, thank you El Viejo but I 'cheated' and got the Misjump Inducer)
Now all I gotta do is remember not to try to dock with a Generation Ship to see if they have any spare fuel...
