I didn't get mine until Christmas of 1983 (thanks mam and dad) - but I've looked after it - and it's still going!

I've still got my oul Spectrums upstairs in the attic.. We checked them last year and all worked fine. My Missus, who is a bit younger than me, asked if I thought they might have been the seed from which 'rave' music sprang from :(

How time flies.. though one constant is that my computer knowledge is still lacking!

Hi, ulaidian, and welcome to the Friendliest Board This Side Of Riedquat™. :D

(Personally I have the C64 still in the parents' attic, but I'm not sure whether it's still working. The Mega ST 4 in their basement should. )

I get both C64s and all three Amiga A500s (1 standard (original/early) A500, 1 A500 with 1MB expansion (1/2Meg upgrade and newer Fatter Agnus), 1 A500+ 2MB delicately soldered internally (that was a nervous day, + A590 HD with 4MB in its expansion slot - this is the machine I used to play with Raylab on) out at least once a year to make sure they're still operational - so far, so good. It will be a sad day when I flick the power switch on any of them and nothing happens...

Then I'd have 5 Schroedinger's Computers - in a state of functional and non-functional simultaneously, a state which only becomes fixed when I try and turn them on! Wow - a 30 year old C64 is actually a quantum computer - cool!

Sadly, my original C64 gave up the ghost some years back, but I do have a working 64c setup in the basement and when I get nostalgic I'll mess around with it for an hour or so. The power connector is not very secure. Really should fix that.

Cheers for the welcome.. I looked for an 'Introductions' thread, but found none, so used this to say 'Hi'.

Like many of you, I came from the oul Elite games.. .some of the happiest times of my young adolescent life were spent at that computer (a great replacement for rainy and sometimes dangerous Belfast!)!
I actually did search around, and try a few.. but by the gods! I have struck gold with this game! There are very few that can immediately flood your senses with a bygone era.. and this is one of those few. A genuine gem, and I am happy to say that I am addicted again!

So.. a genuine pleasure to meet you all, and here's hoping to a great future of lots of Oolite!!

Welcome onboard, ulaidian.

Reality is what you think it is. Until it isn't.
