Recently been travelling to the sun from the witchpoint beacon a lot, either to visit rock hermits or to sunskim.

Haven't been seeing many ships on that route. I have Total Patrol OXP installed, so I have seen a few police ships, and the occasional sunskimmer. But no pirates or other ships.

Do I need another OXP, such as Dr Nil's Sunskimmers?

I thought of getting Deep Space Pirates, but I don't really like the way it adds pirates in odd places away from the three main lanes.

I guess that's what you'd expect, though. Most ships are on the WP - planet route, so that's where the pirates tend to hang out as well. The only ships you'd expect to find are occassional traders on a long haul sunskimming from system to system.

You do get some pirates on the WP- sun route, especially if you have some OXPs that add to the pirate count. I got blasted out of the sky by a Corsair today whilst sunskimming through systems on a passenger run. I must have been nearer the sun than the WP at the time.
