That would be because the keyed out colour is fairly broad, so some of the shadows are getting just dark enough to fool the camera. I would suggest evenly lighting your chroma board and keying to a slightly brighter shade of green.

I don't know at Bournemouth we popped a couple of halogens (with refuser) on the top rack above our blue curtain. As long as you got all the creases out it worked fine. Didn't cost too much.

If someone made Oolite the movie there would probably be a fan backlash along the lines of Why is XXX OXP not in the movie?
