I just picked up a few cargo pods and a couple of escape caps, what do I do with a loose ship ?

Leave it or blow it up. AFAIK there is no way to salvage it.

What would be a useful OXP would be where you could leave a beacon by a derelict ship that informs the local salvage operation (Anarchies OXP) who come and collect the ship and give you a percentage of its resale or scrap value. If you want the cash, you have to stick around and guard it until the scrappers turn up, just in case someone else has the same idea.

Since Buoy repair has the ability for an NPC to tow and then detach an object (put the buoy in place with a tug and the tug then goes on its way) surely this would be possible in reverse. Thargoid came up with a way to make a small ship scoopable when dead as part of TCAT.

Try the Deep Space Dredger OXP!

(Although chances are a Cobra III isn't really worth the cost of a salvage drone ...)

OK, so I shot it a couple of times, I hoped there might be some cargo, but No, Nothing ! Except 1 single piece of Alloy, that's all, from a ship which retails for I-have-no-idea-how-much ! 50 grand ? 100 thou ? 200 K ?

I spose I should learn how to code OXPs ?

Maybe, but don't hold yer breath. . .

Well, when a ship blows up, there's seldom much left but vapour anyhow. It's just a question of chance how much of the cargo survives the blast.

If you're interested in salvage, get the Dredger OXP and buy a drone or two. Just don't expect to get rich quick: a Cobra III might retail for Cr150,000, but you're not going to get that from the dredgers if you bring them in a damaged one. You'd be lucky to get 1/100th of that. Bring them in a Python, though, or a Boa, and you could start to expect a better payday, if only from the extra cargo they'll have on board. It's an income, though, not a jackpot!
