A few sugestionss.

Save All @ dockables/b]
Save at any place u dock.
Auto fast forward
Have a fast forward button that stops returns to normal time when under attack.
Black Monk/eject reset
Have a representative black monk loan shark at Coriolis... when you eject from ship you loose all you had except for rank & status and credits.

alternative nose weapon
Be able to sell lazer and not have any weapons or... have other nose weapons other than lazer.
Small machine gun= no overheat -- limited amo -- adjusted sight speed of round (4000 rounds for example)
Rail gun = similar but stronger
Plasma cannon = same speed as lazer and overheats like beam lazer... but very powerful 2 times strong than laser = but uses fuel to fire.

Oh and a way to replace textures of oolite.. I have pretty textures installed, but I still see original ones now and again....all I can think of for now.

Hi, Violent1, welcome to the friendliest boards this side of Riedquat! Please do try to avoid being violent around here, the other patrons tend to frown at that kind of behaviour (unless if directed against a confirmed spammer, in which case you may be as brutal as you want).

As for your "sugestionss" (if you're not a native English speaker, I'd recommend downloading a language pack for your browser as it'd help you to improve your skill - not to mention that the other patrons also kind of frown at lazy grammar and orthography ;) ):

What for? In Oolite things happen fast enough.

I couldn't make sense out of these, would you mind to rephrase?...

Again, there is already an OXP that does it, in this case a choice between several models of rail guns... as for Plasma accelerators, they're kind of a taboo issue around here because of Elite 2 and 3 (aka FE2 and FFE)

to get the original textures, you can either choose to start a new game without any OXPs (vanilla mode), or remove the offending OXPs.

In any case, it'd be a nice idea to check out the oxps on the Elite Wiki.

Depending on which OXPs you have installed depends on whether the textures are fully replaced on the core ships.

Griff and Neolite ships fully replace old ships and textures.

I think Sung's textures do this.

I'm not sure about Deepspace Textures.

Non-core ships (but in the same style/texturing as core ships) won't have their textures and/or designs replaced by any of these packages.

Ok know that I'm on a computer and had some time to pontificate about my grammar I post a reply that is very suitable.

Dock Save Idea
I don't particularly want a save anywhere...I want to save at a dock. I.E. Say I dock at a Rock Hermit, or at an OXP Dockable. I would be cool if the game said "Oh, he's docked, he can save now"... but I guess if I fix the OXP save it would be just fine. I just need a way to script it.... it's java right.... I just discovered this game a few weeks ago. Sorry...

*Another Idea... just remembered* It would be cool if you had a space hanger. Docked at a Coriolis station and you wanted a new Boa, but don't want to sell Cobra III you already had. You can keep you're ship in "storage". If you have to be in another station far in another system/galaxy... make key 4,5 one of those don't have command attached or something the import ship option. On the game you loose a week or so, so it discourages you from swiching ships during time sensitive mission like... taxi services. Maybe even add a small fee for ship transport to the Docking station near you!!!

Eject Reset/ Loan shark
Much like ACDK's or Griff's... don't remember who did it exactly Black Monastary/OXP, you have a loan shark whole send Gal Cop's or Pirates (if you want to be shadier) who'll allow to you borrow money with an interest fee.
If, you bought an escape pod, and you eject. You lost that ship and cargo you bought and you failed any mission (i.e. taxi, carrier or something like that), so you either have three option if their available. Ship other ship to you, get loan and have a bull's eye on your ship when you buy one. Or if you have enough money, just use the money you've got.

Alternative nose weapon
The last idea is the ability to sell all weapons there's a OXP labeled like that but you can't leave the station with out a nose weapon... what if I wanted to you a rail gun for primary not laser on me. I also hate that you have "prime" and use a different key on there. I think OXP for Rail gun is great except, it don't have a targeting system well suited to the slowness of the round, I'm suggesting a floating sight like seen one Arcade shooter like Ace Combat and stuff. And well it's not a 'nose weapon' it falls under the missile and other weapon category, you have a military laser a the most powerful railgun which I think is wrong. I think missiles and bombs are enough to worry about different key for...

Have you played with the railgun OXP? By the way what's wrong with having a plasma cannon and machine gun? Don't you think just have 4 nose weapons that almost look the same is kinda dull... What's with the

why is is taboo? keep in mind if it weren't for the fact that I stumbled onto this, I would have never known what Elite even was.

Auto fastforward
I know that OOlite has fast forward command with FPS speed, but at the same time it's very cumbersome... some times I miss messages for help and things be for I can slow down and figure who's in distress and who's attacking. I stumbled onto this game after trying to find a Space trader a little more technical, and with more freedom than XBOX/PC's DARKSTAR1. But one option I liked about it, is it had a handy FF command. Which sped time up unless A.) You got a message B.)You were being targeted or C.)You were close to landing or a big object.

@DADDY: thanks I, took a look at Griff's replacement textures ( Which is what I have, I think their awesome)... and realized some were incomplete... it don't have the ISO station textured. But I also find that his Boa's (or Boa Class cruiser) or Sidewinders sometimes have the original texture... where all the others never do revert back to the Oolite textures. I also have a Deep Horizon (system textures and their the best). This game could be what Elite could be if the company pursued it further.

Anyways.... I'm sorry about my previous post, it should've been clearer. And thanks for welcoming me.

"Save Anywhere" is just the name; the wiki says that "Save Anywhere is a unique method whereby you can save your game at any OXP station, not only Main Planetary Orbital Stations, as in the standard game".

This has been discussed, and IIRC there were technical reasons against trying this on the core. However, some OXPs remove your ship temporarily and give you another one.

There's a running discussion regarding multiple forward weapons and laser cooling boosters, in which the dev team is refusing to change the way weapons work.
The railgun OXP is, thus, a workaround that the author found to allow a secondary front weapon; another author was redirecting the back laser to the front on MultipleForwardLaserPlayerShips(MFLPS).oxp . While they at least add functionality, the authors themselves say their OXPs weren't quite the what they'd have liked.
Have you played with the railgun OXP?
Yes. I normally use it to either soften up or finish off large ships (Python and above) and save on the laser temperature, but it's imprecise, suffers from collision detection problems (I have the feeling the shots sometimes go right through the target) and if you fire the laser while using the railgun you may destroy your own bullets. Since I play with a controller, it's easier for me to prime and fire the gun, but I agree it'd still be nice to just toggle weapons and blast away.

FE2 and FFE have Newtonian flight models and are much more on the simulation side of gaming, which some Ooliters love while others hate... To avoid conflict, we avoid comparing Elite (and Oolite) with the sequels.
BTW, in the sequels, only the larger ships could fit a plasma accelerator, which could destroy most targets instantly... if you like fanfic and BFGs, try the Huge Plasma Accelerator saaaargha.

I don't understand what you mean by this - if they're Griff's ships they can't have "original texture" - since Griff redesigned the ships they come with textures specific to those ship designs. It is possible for other OXPs to add other ships also named "sidewinder" (for example) that add those ships back in with old (or just different) textures. Is this what you're seeing perhaps?

This is what Save Anywhere - download the OXP from the link on the wiki (as I've already posted) and then follow the link (also on the wiki page) back to a different part of this forum with a code mod' that will allow Save Anywhere to work with the latest version of the Oolite code - it's a little bit of a faff but until Save Anywhere is officially fixed it's the best we can offer.

Currently impossible - you are your ship, there is no person, there is just a ship, it is you. This is deeply ingrained within the code and is currently not "fixable" via OXP and won't be changed in the core code (the Dev's have better things to spend their time on)

I think it's worth pointing out the distinction between retextures and replacement shipsets.
Griff's (and Neolyte I believe) are replacement ship sets and replace some, but not necessarily all of the original models. These have their own unique textures for the new models of course. These sets may not replace every object in the game. As you've noticed Griff's set does not have a replacement for the Ico station, and also I believe there are other ships and objects which do not feature in the set either, so when the game spawns one of these the original 'core' ones will be used instead.
The retexture sets replace the (somewhat bland) skins on the original 'core' models to make them look better. These retextures will have much more detail and often nice lighting effects as well that usually do not require shaders. Between them my Smivs'Shipset and Accessories do replace the textures of every object in the 'core' game, as I think does Deepspace's retexture set.

Well, not entirely true, hehe! :D

Look, this is very very preliminary but I have come up with some interesting ideas and theories of how to do this via the "oxp workaround". It is in the notes/research stage and as a long-term oxp side project it will be at least a year or more before I have proven it won't work or have a working oxp to share.

Now, be at peace and dream about the future possibilities...

Hi CSOTB - I think you said on another thread that you had thought of a way round this through OXP. However, since you currently don't have a working OXP, my statement is still factually correct - it's *CURRENTLY* not fixable via oxp.

However, I look forward to you confirming the workaround works - because I wouldn't mind flying my jump-free Mamba when I'm at Diso (my home system) but flying my other ship (info classified) elsewhere. (Indeed, touring with the Magma Racing Team on occasion - they sometimes load my Mamba into the hold of their Anaconda along with the actual race ships - or they would - if such a thing was possible)

What you would like still might or might not be possible and might be an extension of the ideas I have. What I am mainly refering to is separating the player from the ship which if it works the way I want will result in being able to walk around the insides of ships and stations. Combined with ideas on paper that I have for crews, subent equipment, simulated damage, along with some ideas from Elite A such as different priced equipment and equipment space, well, this might be pretty cool. It's all currently in the paper stage with a small bit of the preliminary js coding done as tests of a part of one of the concepts. It's one of those long-term dream projects... :)
