Resignation :)
/sheaths katana/
Not more than a month ago, every single day I used to fire up my browser to look for spammers on these boards before my first coffee. Usually the night shift had already swept everything clear, but ever so often I could report a new one and/or delete an entry.
Lately, I hardly visits the boards anymore. So I don't think I should be a spam assassin anymore.
For the same reason, I resign as moderator. A hemi-demi-semi-spat in outworld made me realise I don't have patience with passive-agressiveness. It just bores me, not a good trait for a moderator.
Before you think I'm doing this because I'm depressed or something like that, nothing could be further from the truth.
I married last month, two days ago I first heard the heartbeat of our child-to-be, and I have a very rewarding job (not monetarily, mind you! )
I'm also -again- putting a lot of time in making sounds (can't call it music! )
Oolite and these boards gave me lots of joy. Great memories, I remember these were all fields… I managed to write the first functioning OXP evar, despite having not written a line of code since my teenage years. It felt like a huge success, for the whole community, we were all equally ecstatic because we knew this OXP functionality would make Oolite unique in the long run.
That was long ago. I never got into JavaScript, RL can be a b!tch.
So I became a glorified lurker, very rarely I had anything new or informative to say.
I'm obsolete! Time to move on, heehee!

Re: Resignation :)
Hi Rxke - firstly - I like your music.
Secondly, congrats on your new marital status.
Thirdly, beckoning fatherhood - cool - it's a great feeling isn't?
I will have to create a retired badge for spam assassins - I can remove you from the assassins group, but I think only Aegidian (and possibly Ahruman) can revoke your Moderator status.
Enjoy your lurking - I will look forward to your increasingly rare posts!

Re: Resignation :)
Hi Rxke,
Like the others, I can only say 'thanks' for all you've done for this community.
It sounds like RL is being very good to you and we all hope the happiness continues, and of course congrats on the great family news. You won't know you're alive when you have a Rxkelet to raise. Kids are wonderful, and do sort of take over your life, but in a good way.
So, not quite goodbye as we hope you'll look in from time to time. Very best of luck.

Not farewell, Rxke, but adieu ... swing by sometimes, on the road to Raxxla! (And get your music done *now*, man, because in about eight months you'll have your hands full! )

Thanks for all the kind words, guys!
To be sure: I'm not going anywhere, I only visit less frequently, so it made no sense to be admin or assassin anymore.
@DH: I think you confuse me with someone else, can't really remember having shared any music/sound effects etc. here :s
The retirement badge would be kinda cool, heehee!

Re: Resignation :)
I like the open door policy of this wonderful thing. Come and go as you please, few judgements will be made (and none that really matter) because of it. This isn't a cult or anything, and all strong psychological rivers flow from many sources of inspiration.
There are many things to be done in this wonderful thing called life, this is but one.
While the fire waits to warm the tired returning traveller.
While the table is set to sate the pang of a fellows hunger.
While the book sits patiently to be read by the authors hand.
While storied flutter between action and the telling.
There are no goodbyes.

Hi guys and girls, happy new year!
Who do I ask/PM to relieve me from mod duties?
Today somebody PM'med me to ask to do some moderation, I'd love to oblige, but I don't think I still have the 'right' to do this, at least it feels like that, I'm no longer following each and every thread, don't even recognize some new members handles et c...

Re: Resignation :)
I understand your 'predicament', Rxke... hopefully, one of the Admins will oblige. Just an opinion… the displayed Moderators’ usernames (do they really need to be listed for each section, btw?) should surely reflect those Mods who are regularly seen on the forum.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Resignation :)
I will try - it didn't quite pan out the way I intended when I removed (at his request) EV's admin rights - but that was probably because he was a (nearly) full admin rather than a moderator - but it won't be tonight - as it's gone 1am and I need to go to bed. I'll let you know if I manage it (if one of the real admins like Ahruman or Giles doesn't do it properly before that).Rxke wrote:+bump+

Oh boy, it does sound like this will be painful!
