The Oolite wiki site appears to be down. Anyone know of a problem, or is there someone we should inform?
Or is it just me?
Or is it just me?
Do a google search like this:Stormy wrote:Down for me too. Bummer, I was looking for some info how the heck I can find "West".
I dare you, try it! Tell me if you've found it.SandJ wrote:Stormy wrote:
So if you search for "site:wiki.alioth.net west" you may get what you want.
The Google search returned this: http://s-and-j.co.uk/oolite/Screen1.pngStormy wrote:I dare you, try it!SandJ wrote:So if you search for "site:wiki.alioth.net west" you may get what you want.
You need to add "site:wiki.alioth.net" to the google search. Not that it will help with the problem you seem to have.Stormy wrote:Pretty clever, but not what I was looking for. When I google west, I find this fella: <some bloke called kanye_west>
Eh? Your compass is showing a police ship (the purple dot) to your left, which is what I assume you mean by "West"?Stormy wrote:But that is also not what I am looking for. What I need is 'west'on my compas. See, there is no 'west'
What about a search for "lead * leading.x". I was looking for a few lines of code, of which I knew it was published once on this BB and with a google search I only got one hit. And it was the one on this board I needed from a 4 years old topic I wanted to add a comment. No way I could have found that with the normal search of this BB.SandJ wrote:This is also good for searching phpBB sites like this one which do not allow searching for common words. For example, you cannot search this site for "your ad here" as all three words are either too popular or too short. Instead, one can search for
on Google and find the desired thread.
- site:aegidian.org "your ad here"
Now you assume I come from the south, but am I coming from the south?SandJ wrote:Eh? Your compass is showing a police ship (the purple dot) to your left, which is what I assume you mean by "West"?
Who knows? Who cares? I can see nothing in Oolite that reveals magnetic direction (nor even position with relation to the planetary orbital plane). There is no N, S, E or W. There is left, right, up and down, plus rotational clockwise and anticlockwise.Stormy wrote:Now you assume I come from the south, but am I coming from the south?
I am just getting silly. There is no conventional compas in space. I have been looking for Erehwon for ages(3 LY west of Biorle).SandJ wrote:Who knows? Who cares? Why do you need to go "West"? What do you mean by "West" in the context of the compass?
