Oolite Bulletins

The Oolite wiki site appears to be down. Anyone know of a problem, or is there someone we should inform?
Or is it just me?

No it is not just you. It is down for me as well. Was starting to wonder whether this was a Hurricane Irene problem.

Do a google search like this:

• site:www.whatever.com search terms

and it will return only the pages on http://www.whatever.com with those terms.

So if you search for "site:wiki.alioth.net west" you may get what you want.

But, in this case do NOT click on the link, but instead click on the Google "Cached" word instead. You then get whatever that page contained last time Google trawled it.


This is also good for searching phpBB sites like this one which do not allow searching for common words. For example, you cannot search this site for "your ad here" as all three words are either too popular or too short. Instead, one can search for

• site:aegidian.org "your ad here"

on Google and find the desired thread.

Pretty clever, but not what I was looking for. When I google west, I find this fella:



But that is also not what I am looking for. What I need is 'west'on my compas. See, there is no 'west'

You need to add "site:wiki.alioth.net" to the google search. Not that it will help with the problem you seem to have.

Eh? Your compass is showing a police ship (the purple dot) to your left, which is what I assume you mean by "West"?

What about a search for "lead * leading.x". I was looking for a few lines of code, of which I knew it was published once on this BB and with a google search I only got one hit. And it was the one on this board I needed from a 4 years old topic I wanted to add a comment. No way I could have found that with the normal search of this BB.

West is to the left of up as you face Down-North, isn't it?

Who knows? Who cares? I can see nothing in Oolite that reveals magnetic direction (nor even position with relation to the planetary orbital plane). There is no N, S, E or W. There is left, right, up and down, plus rotational clockwise and anticlockwise.

I am just getting silly. There is no conventional compas in space. I have been looking for Erehwon for ages(3 LY west of Biorle).

it seems to be down a lot.. wonder how come...
