Looking at the front of the Behemoth...

It has the same landing dock as the space stations.

Is it possible to land on it???

Yes.

Hint: "SHIFT+C Docking Computer (Active Target)"

Pretty nice in my opinion

If you want to be a bit flash, you can always line up in front of them, and then reverse in, by dropping your speed.....

Plus you'll get the best maintenance performed there (Behemoths are TL 15).

Quick question: Is the behemoth now part of the main release or only available if you use the OXP?

I found a behemouth after a whichspace misjump, it was a great fight with all the behemouth turrets firing... unluckily it didn't survived but i had enough fuel anyways.

I though that behemouth was changing course to avoid collision when i tried to dock with it the first time. After you said that i tried again and successfully docked with my python (speed .200 , slower than the behe). After a lot of fuel after-burned i managed to dock with only one scratch.

hopefully not a stupid q...

am new to Oolite and am wondering if there's any surefire way to see the behemoth, cos it sounds cool :D or does it appear at random?

I think it is a 1 in 10 chance of seeing it...

My advice to you, if you have anything other than "Clean" as your status when it appears...

RUN!!!

Behemoths tend to fly directly towards the planet in a straight line, though occasionally they go round and round in circles or perform the odd "Crazy Ivan".

A good tip for landing is to fly behind them, overtake, get some distance ahead of them (4-5 Km) and then turn round and head in.

Other fun things to do with them include:
Fly close to them when being attacked by pirates. If stray fire hits the Behemoth, you'll gain a few allies.

If you find one after a witchspace malfunction, dock with it and it will take you to your destination.

They also give the best price for Alien Items.

A very straight line. I’ve seen one take the route straight through the Witchspace beacon. It didn’t even slow down.

It’s kinda funny how they fly straight through fights ignoring the presense of Fugitives. Ahh well.

lol, going through the witchspace beacon - not illegal for system vessels then? haha :P

Yeah, behemoths will stay neutral, which is why it's always good to get them involved!

On a slightly unrelated note, I have seen Vipers firing on other Vipers, who have, presumably, accidentally fired on their colleagues.

lol i tried to dock with one using SHIFT+C but it didn't do anything  my ship just sat there doing bugger all until i hit C again to cancel autopilot. next thing i know, there's no behemoth anymore, just a viper. i refuse to believe that i mistook the two

haha i'm sleep deprived, ok?

on an even more unrelated note, do all the OXP's on Oosat work with V1.55? obviously excluding the ones that say something like "upgraded for V1.53 haha!
