Why isn't this OXP ship showing up?

Just for fun (and with the uberers in mind), I whipped together a new ship - a hacked thargon warship. Basically, choppers capture thargoid warships, and then retrofit them to accept standard fuel and most equipment (though you're stuck with the thargoid laser on the front and mining laser on the aft).

Anyway, I created the OXP, but it isn't showing up on the shipyard. I'm posting the link to the OXP. If anyone can take a look and tell me what is wrong here? (Yes, the shipyard was set to TL 1, chance 100%).

A player ship can't have a Thargoid laser without a lot of problems. The bug laser was never meant to install on player ships.

That needs to change. I think 'goid lasers would be great on my caddy...

Actually the errors in Dragonfire's attempt are much more fundamental than that.

He's right. I removed the bug laser, and it still doesn't show up.

Thargoid lasers dont behave like normal weapons, they would need reworking to fire in a fixed direction. A long time ago there was a bug that allowed Thargoid lasers to be fitted to player ships, and while they could be fitted and the game ran ok the lasers didnt work.

It will not change any time soon.

Correct I hadnt seen that ship.

Even if Ryan did find a way to make thargoid lasers work, I wouldnt rely on it. It was never intended and will most likely not be supported in the future.

Incidentally, does anyone know why that wiki page says cargo is limited to 17T but seems to be 2T (it is correct in the table)?

There is no way to magically make a ship always appear in a shipyard. The tech level means that a ship is more likely to appear at that level or thereabouts. So therefore something with TL1 is rather unlikely to appear in a high tech level system's shipyard. And the chance key affects how many often that ship appears compared to other ships, so that a ship with chance 0.5 will appear half as often as a ship with chance 1. The shipyard chooses random ships from all installed ships taking all this into account. So if you want to test to see if it'll appear, you can boost your chances of seeing it by removing all other oxp ships from your addons folder.

As far as I can tell, that ship is never generated with Thargoid lasers in 1.75.3 – although I couldn’t see why.

We ditched the bug lasers for the more powerful mil lasers.

Hopefully said in jest - the Caduceus - a sentient biomechanically engineered ship, specifically designed as a bug hunter, carrying a bug weapon...

ClymAngus would hunt you down for even suggesting such a thing...

Not unless they fixed the numerous other mistakes it had. Starting with no texture, so even if it were instantiated (which was impossible because of the errors) it would be invisible anyway.
