Moderator: Split from thread “Planettool 0.4.2 released”.
I'm trying to do a couple of planets (as you might remember from a few weeks ago) and have got a problem.
I've used planettool to convert my original tecture to a cube map, and I'm getting some weird artifacts.
The main artifact is clearly visible, but the pale area above it and to the right is also an artifact, and they both move around the planet in-game, but this does not seem to be linked to the planet's rotation as the underlying texture is moving much more slowly.
I have tried applying jitter, but with no obvious improvement.
Any ideas, suggestions?

Re: Planettool 0.4.2 released
Could you e-mail me your original texture and the generated cube map?

Just wondering if you've had a chance to investigate this yet?

Re: Planettool 0.4.2 released
Well, sort of. I’ve established that the cube map itself is fine, so this isn’t a planettool bug. (There’s a seam in it, but that’s because the left and right of the original don’t match up.) It works fine in-game for me. The symptoms actually seem to suggest a problem in the cloud layer, but I have no idea what would cause that or why it would be linked to cube maps.

Re: Planet/cloud rendering bug
I often see problems with the cloud layer on a textured planet that
does not have a cube map..(never tried a cube map yet)
like here
Sometimes it works and the cloud layer is generated ok... but i cannot figure why other than i thought
it was about the time of day, but a quick test of clock shifts did not reveal anything different..
Cheers Frame...
