I was
going to spend this afternoon weeding the bug tracker, but I ended up spending four hours extracting
some of my posts from the horrible Minecraft forum archives.
Totally worth it.

Ahruman - you amaze me and scare me in equal measures.
I'd never heard of minecraft until this post and now I'm completely fascinated! (Damn you!)

The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson?

Minecraft? MINECRAFT!!! AAAAAGGGHHH!
It's like poisoned honey. You know it's bad for you but you can't get enough of that sticky sweet nectar. Might as well bite the bullet and accept..... So who's going to run a server so we can build scale models of the main oolte ships then?
For video's I would whole heartedly endorse "hatventures in minecraft" run by a walrus, abraham lincoln and the Green Bombardier.

never seen the point of this. if i wanted to build blocky things i'd get the Lego simulator.

A whole bunch of my friends were playing Minecraft obsessively a while back (and still are), so I torrented a pirated version (which I've now deleted), just to see what all the fuss was about. It's a lot more addictive than one would think! I've been holding off buying it, else I think I'd get even less sleep than I currently do!

Modern Lego gives you – or rather, sells you – a computer block. In Minecraft, you can dig a mine into the bowels of the earth to find the rare precious ore that lets you build wires and NOR gates – battling monsters on the way – then
invent a computer from first principles.
Then you can build a machine to gather the monsters together, kill them in inventive ways, and gather their remains which can be used to forge weapons.
So yeah, there are blocks and stuff, but it’s not quite the same as the Lego simulator. Unless you’re looking at the freebie version. :-)

Ah, Minecraft
Nice. Although I'm not really in the "building computers and spaceships"-camp, I rather enjoy building villages etc. with friends on Multiplayer and playing AdventureCraft.

I think
this one fits Minecraft scale pretty well. The crazy-detailed CAD picture would be best if the project was 3-5 times its current size

Some pics..
The frontside looks hilarious in its current state
Some trouble with making the exterior; making sloped surfaces is hard, making the slopes look good is even harder.

Not sure if you are still working on this, but a quick tip is to use stairs to smooth out the angle on the slopes a bit!
Cheers,
