A question about the Black Monks....

I just got a loan from the "holy" brothers, and I was amused by what they had to say to me. But I have a question. How risky would it be to choose not to settle my debt? I've heard of the might of the "Holy Gunships," but I want to know if a commander like me, with 1622 kills at the time of this writing, could survive a Black Monk attack in a Boa Clipper? Also, would they keep attacking me day after day until I finally bite the dust, or would they stand down after one or two attacks? Thanks.

A gunship is often flown by a Championship class marksman, and they are extremely accurate shooters. The ship sports twin forward laser mounts, a single medium yield flak gun, and up to six hardhead missiles. The Gunship is well armored and can withstand a lot of abuse. And yes, they will be persistent, until the loan is paid off.

You have two advantages: One, the Gunship is a spacegoing slug, it's very slow and far from agile. Two, though tough, they're vulnerable to a nuclear torpedo, and being slow - see point one - they cannot escape catching a torp up the tailpipes.

Use what you have learned well, Grasshopper. 8)

- Captain Derik Roh'i, a menace to holy legbreakers

I'll try my luck. Free money!*
*Danger involved. Gunships can kill. Be careful.

Now I'm tempted to install Black Monks!

My time is half up! At this rate, I think I'll be attacked tomorrow afternoon, about sixteen hours from now.

Remember injectors, a missile spoof, and...
"Now it's MY turn to break some legs. See you in Hell, 'brother'! Fox four!"
...A nuke.

You said they were persistent. Might I ask how persistent? Are they three-tries-and-then-give-up persistent, or chase-you-across-the-eight-charts persistent? I don't want to be the "holy" brothers' public enemy #1.

I am disturbed by your lack of faith in me.

Just thought of something! I could write a short story based on this part of my life!
...The Koneko Maru turned, military lasers flashing. The Black Monk gunship veered away, trying to dodge. Ryan activated his injectors, and fired a Nuke. THe warship was instantly turned to scrap metal...

Problem is - they never give up - and one day - they will catch you at the end of an encounter with something else, when you're not fully up to speed...

Persistent as in you'll likely be engaged by a gunship often till the loan is paid up.
Persistent as in the damned gunship will continue to fight until destroyed, and doesn't know when to disengage and save his sorry hide.

Right now you're torpedoing them to shake 'em off your ass.
Go give them back their frakin' money, then you can begin to show them what 'devine retribution' really is...by wasting every gunship you see and saving the poor sods stupid enough to make deals with them.

Round one was easy. Get close, fire a few missiles, and watch the thing blow up. Round two was different: Press Space Commander! Very fun! They can have their 30,000 creds back. But I have declared war on the Order of the Black Monks of Saint Herod, no matter what GalCop says about it!
