To really appreciate what this is about, I have prepared a video showing the fx in full glory. But I have some problems uploading to both box and terrastorage right now. If someone could provide me with temporary webspace to upload it, it would be great.
Yeeehaaa!!! How much space do you need?

170MB, AVI format. I can also upload as zip, dropping requirements to 50MB.

Thanks for the help :-)

Edit: Thanks to Svengali's kind offer, we now have v1.73 footage available, showing the new Griff's Thargoid in action. I have uploaded two videos: On the first, you see a near 360 revolution around one of these beauties (which has conveniently been given a dumb ai for the tourists to admire), and on the second you see it in battle getting its rear kicked by yours truly (for a change, normally it's the other way round ;-)). I hope these will be OK, I've never done video game capturing before.
One: GriffNewThargoidDemo.zip
Two: GriffThargoidInCombat.zip
Edit:Updated download location.

Wow! That looks amazing in-game, Griff's detail to on the modles surpasses the work seen on many commercial titles.

On a side note, is it easy to create videos in Oolite? (I'm sure this has been mentioned before, so sorry if so, and does anyone have a link if it has to the answer? :) )

Oolite doesn’t have a way to create videos, but there are third-party screen recording apps for all platforms.

Edit: another_commander, would you object to seeing those videos on Youtube?

As it happens, I already had, setting them private pending permission.

Private, it appears, is very private, because I’m not permitted to see them myself. Thanks, Youtube!

Edit: They reappeared after processing and are now not private.

so cool....

The lasers though seems out of place now though...

they should be slightly ever so transparent... with a brighter centre.

sort a like these well known beams.

If you use Windows, the best of the free products appears to be CamStudio. For Linux, try RecordMyDesktop which is also available via most package managers (though usually not the latest release). I don't know what's available for the Mac, but I'm sure somebody here would know..

A brief discussion on settings for CamStudio can be found here.

Edit to add:
is it easy to create videos in Oolite?
Yes, it's quite easy with the above tools.

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

@ Ahruman, how do you get links to work in your YouTube comments? Every time I've tried, it just displays as text...

The Griff Thargoid videos have now been uploaded to an alternative site:
Video 1: GriffNewThargoidDemo.zip
Video 2: GriffThargoidInCombat.zip
Thanks again to Svengali for offering a temporary host location while I was sorting out my terrastorage glitches.
