JazHaz, have you tried Cim's [wiki]Skilled NPCs OXP[/wiki]? I meet quite a lot of jinky little swine in Sidewinders (Swinewinders?) with that installed ...
No, because I find the increase in difficulty with the release of 1.77 more than enough for me...
<raises eyebows> Do you use any OXPs that provide extra shields/energy for NPCs?
Yes, COTB's pretty shields.

<nods> I still use McLane's NPC Shields, which in combination with 1.79 and Skilled NPCs, makes life along the 'lanes quite harsh at times! <grins happily>
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I still think you should try a few accuracy-10 opponents in Oolite. I've watched your video and I can tell you that their flying style is not that different to that of the ship you were facing.
I would be interested to hear about how the AIs in ED compare with a top-level Oolite one. If you don't want the top level AIs in actual space, the Combat Simulator OXP can arrange some (repeatable) scenarios for you.

There are certainly more things which could be done with the AI, though watching various videos of people playing both Oolite and the ED Alpha, I suspect "point nose at target, try to dodge incoming fire" is more or less all an AI needs to convincingly impersonate a human pilot...

A couple of gamevids from me as well. One with a gamepad and the other with a joystick.

Gameplay is... different from both Elite/Oolite and the Frontier games, but not too much so. I still feel like I'm returned to a familiar place.

This video is interesting.
Someone attempting/doing combat in Elite: Dangerous without flight-assist enabled.
Not my cup of tea, I'm firmly in the Elite corner, but good news for the Newtonian people.

Awesome videos Wolfwood, thanks for posting you computer specs in the comments section too, i've got a graphics card that might be just a bit weaker than yours (well i hope so if the numbers in the names mean anything), a GTX 460 so i might not have to dial down all the eye candy after all when the final game comes out in march fingers crossed :D

Indeed, I was surprised to see the GTX470 run the game so easily on the (current) highest settings.

Another video from me. Joystick really makes the fights easier.

Here's a handy hierarchy chart for graphics cards:

I have a Radeon 6300M. Any chance of E:D ever running whenever it's out? I can't wrap my head around the specs (and obviously, I wouldn't be playing multi, my net sucks)

Thanks for this, it's brilliant!

I can feel a much-needed shift from Tier 21 to Tier 9 coming on after the seasonal chaos subsides...

Can I interest you in a shiny used Cobra? Vintage Mark III with only one not-so-careful owner...
I think that Griff's most recent Cobra design actually stands up very well against this...

The Cobra III was arguably the best of the classic polgon models, so it's nice to see that element being maintained.

Thanks for the updates JazHaz :)

Your graphics card seems to be relatively low down on the list. The requirements indicate that you should have a card from line 11 or above to be able to play.

Just as I thought, I'll stick to Oolite then.

Thats too simplistic. My card is well below that level, yet the alpha is fine on my machine. Yes I have to run in a low resolution, but the game is playable (I'm getting 20-30 FPS).
