Re: Random Hits OXP
Thanks for reporting. A new version (1.10.3) is up and should fix the error. That expansion is a some very old code that deserved to be updated anyway, but I wonder if it not working in trunk is intended behavior or not.
Re: Random Hits OXP
When my escorts kill the subject, I don't get the reward. The mail states "someone else" killed him. Well, in my name, and in my ship jumping from my escort deck!

Don't like to get your hands dirty? That's not much appreciated amongst bounty hunters.QCS wrote:When my escorts kill the subject, I don't get the reward. The mail states "someone else" killed him. Well, in my name, and in my ship jumping from my escort deck!
Re: Random Hits OXP
They simply seem to be better at the lasers, and I am too generous giving them too well equipped shipsspara wrote:Don't like to get your hands dirty? I can live with you saying this is by design. I just have to remember calling them escorts back and heat up my own lasers.

Re: Random Hits OXP
Not having ever tried using escorts, I don't know how do-able this might be, but ideally, you want the escorts to simply keep the henchmen busy, while you focus all your attention on the mark.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
Re: Random Hits OXP
This sounds like real-world thinking yes, that would be ideal, but I guess it would be hard to pour that into an AI.Diziet Sma wrote:Not having ever tried using escorts, I don't know how do-able this might be, but ideally, you want the escorts to simply keep the henchmen busy, while you focus all your attention on the mark.
Currently the escorts seem to attack what's attacking me, or, if nothing is attacking me, what I have selected as ident target.
Also, this subject was alone, flying a damaged Drake. All escorts focused on him
Re: Random Hits OXP
I guess its only fair that a pilot who is relying on escorts does not earn the credits. Why should a bounty hunter who has killed 100+ "criminals" pay any respect to someone who needs to come along with his own army to do the job? Same with the Elite ranking. I'd give you the money though, the subject is terminated after all and the escorts are already paid for.
Re: Random Hits OXP
Hi. I have this problem/bug. When I capture a mark and bring them to galcop, the unit of slaves in my cargo hold is not removed. Not crippling, but I feel kind of cheap selling cargo that I'm not supposed to have. Is this a problem with the oxp or my problem?

You're supposed to kill the mark, not capture them.Ramen wrote:When I capture a mark and bring them to galcop,
Some of the cargo containers you scoop after a fight hold slaves, maybe you got the slaves that way ?

Re: Random Hits OXP
Isn't there is a feature in this which allows you to turn them in to galcop rather than killing them?
I also just RTFM, so next time this happens I will take a screenshot.

Re: Random Hits OXP
The Marks are not all official criminals, so GalCop police are probably not interested. The whole point of a 'Hit' is that it is just that - your employer wants them dead, for whatever reason and for better or worse.

The thing is I get a prompt saying that galcop takes them in. What's that about?

I took some screenshots:
The target's escape vessel
My cargo.
The station-enter employer prompt.
The galcop prompt.
These were all taken in Dicela in G2.

Re: Random Hits OXP
Thanks for the detailed report Ramen. Much appreciated.
It seems that the hold isn't cleaned after murder or handing the victim to GalCop. That's a bug, not a feature, although some may find it otherwise. I have very little time to test, so If you could be so kind and test, if this version fixes the problem: https://app.box.com/s/v0804xnuxriy943myilfile8kueg22ys.
If it works, I'll update it to the manager.

Re: Random Hits OXP
I think Ramen's question was more what the GalCop hand in option was all about.
It is meant as a feature. The Contract you took was to kill the mark. If you laser him in space, either by destroying his ship whilst he's on it or blowing his pod to bits you have killed the mark and completed the contract. So when you dock you get the email from your employers congratulating you on completing the job and paying you the agreed price. The hand over to Gal Cop option if you scoop him was added as a way of dealing with the player not doing what he was told to do (scoping the pod rather than killing it). I needed to code something to cover the possibility that the player happened to scoop the pod as otherwise the mission would become impossible to complete once the pod was scooped.
Your employors will email you to point out (correctly) that you haven't done what you were told to do and killed him. The choice of going back on the deal or honoring it is the player's. You can be "good" and hand the criminal over to the law and pick up a bounty from GalCop or "evil" and kill the mark in cold blood thus honoring the contract. Since I had to code something to cover the possibility the the player scooped the mark, I gave the player a choice in that event as to what to do with the Captured mark. When you scoop a mark the F5 screen mission description invites you to dock to face a moral choice. You are legally allowed to kill him as he is an outlaw, but you can break faith with your employors and be merciful if you like. If you hand him in your employors will not pay you (as you didn't complete the contract) but you do get a reward from GalCop instead.
As spara says though, the hold not being cleared is a bug as one way or another whichever choice you make he shouldn't still be there.
