The new upload seem to work and the models show up in the gallery like intended! :)

I still encounter the shininess setting in several oxps so I do not remove them explicitly ( ( as of ) yet )...
Shininess still makes sense for older versions of Oolite, for now nothing is wrong to keep it as backwards compatibility.

Things *may* change...
So it seems that we're just awaiting Disembodied's rubber stamp as the final surviving team member (unless somebody else rematerialises from the clutches of the Witchspace Lobster), and we can then put it up!

Super!

And...

just to wish our new HIMSN team (Cody, Disembodied, Tsoj & cbr) a very healthy & happy New Year! And to our most recent contributors (Montana05 & another_commander).

A very good idea! What about HIMSN escape capsules?

The Navy would have customized hardware...

Take the escape pod from the Green Gecko and re-texture that. It's fast too!

The Shipbuilder pod was the first I looked at...

Excellent! Thanks amigo! Could that be added to the HIMSN oxp, please?

What is known about the lore of HIMSN? particular ships?

Otherwise would have his/hers own cargo haulers! Or rely on those Adder/Boa/Cobra traders?

One of those could also serve as a fleet "milch cow", perhaps?

I would presume from earlier comments that that was all handled by contractors (maybe eventually add some player cargo-contracts ferrying goodies to a HIMSN station? Perhaps Switeck might oblige if we asked him?). And the prevailing idea was for a small invisible navy. But all this would be for a later version, I would guess.

LittleBear has made the point that Stranger's World makes problems for the positioning of non-SW stations (I've found the Xeer HIMSN station marooned close to an inner planet rather than stuck at its supposed solar site). Hopefully, Stranger might be persuaded to sort this out...

When Disembodied gives us the "thumbs up", we can upload what we have to the Expansions Manager, and then you & Tsoj can start improving the GitHub version, if you like!

But what do you think, cbr? Do you think that there should be centralised naval procurement with its own flagged haulers? That was certainly the case at one or two stages in history. But not for most, I think. (I've heard a lecture on cavalry-horse supply in Alsace-Lorraine, and have seen a couple of portraits of military suppliers from the Georgian period - as well as meeting the son of a chap who built airbases for the RAF during WW2). Not common for long periods outside the fascist/communist dictatorships, I would guess. (Just remembered: there was the Arsenale in Venice making Galleases etc for several centuries).

fleet "milch cow"
With its docking facilities and size It can excrement many a sidewinder(s) for sure...
But what do you think, cbr?
for this game and oxp, good cargo/fuel/equipment contracts and support missions would be the way...

IRL I think many people underestimate the flow of goods and fuel in the world and in many game scenarios it is easily forgotten

Which ships does HIMSN use...
  • Asp
    Sidewinder
    Anaconda
    Boa MkII
    Constrictor
All are core ships with upped stats/skilled pilots. I think that's all (apart from the carrier).
The Anacondas serve as capital ships (I think) accompanied by escorts.
