yeah, i had one on the origonal, but it got messed up and didnt know how to sort it out. it also need a massive air intake in the front, mabey an idea for a scoop?
it only took me about 5 mins to make the ship.
the hardest was the badge because this is my 1st day of ever using somehing more complicated than paint, but im pleased i have a billboard
and it could have some "chav" lingo with "i haz an ASBO" as a number plate
i will work on a newer one (with "chavs" in it) and a spoiler, and neon underlights

Or have I got this completely wrong?

A little variation or subtlety makes them better, and not just routinely replacing every example of "o" with "oo" is what I meant by less being more.
Soobaru rather than Soobaroo perhaps, or Subaroo (although the latter sounds more like a lesser marsupial). I would council to make it subtle, so you don't notice the change at first. A lot of the ads do that, but replacing things like "to" with "too" just makes it look like you flunked English.

Go for it, is what I say! As Thargoid says, if you're making an "oo" ad, the "oo" should really only be used (as it has been in all those adverts so far, including 0235's Soobaroo billboard) in the name of the product. It's a quick, easy and effective way of making an ad (and finding out how to use the software, in my case). Even though it's the same joke over and over, it's still often funny, in my opinion anyway.
In the game these ads are set dressing. They provide a little visual variety and make the game universe a little more dynamic and colourful. Like real adverts, perhaps some of them are more eyecatching than others, or more memorable than others. Maybe some of them make some people grind their teeth a bit: so what? Advertising is an annoyance. In many respects it's a horrible idea, infesting the pure emptiness of space with commercial blandishments ... there should be something irritating about it! Adverts often bug me, sometimes they make me groan, and sometimes – even against my better judgement – they make me laugh. I think it's entirely fitting that they should do the same in Oolite as they do in real life.

@ Thargoid/Disembodied,
An excellent display of observation skills, as always.
You both have my thanks and upmost respect.
Cheers,

I link to a URL that Imageshack suggests you don't use, which is probably wrong of me but what the hey ... if you click on the image of your advert in your post, then click on the image again on the page that brings up, you'll get this URL:
http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/1483/s ... ardjh2.jpg
Put that between the <img> tags and you get
I use Photoshop, because I got it at work and it comes with a free home license ...

@0235. Good Ad - It's a little dark though! I'm a GIMP user too - is it that dark in GIMP? If not you may need to falsely wind up the brightness in GIMP to give you a "normal" brightness version for here.
One thing - grammatically it should be "ASBOs" - as a plural and "ain't" because it's a contraction.
Finally, would they have ASBOs in the 32nd century? (or indeed would anybody outside the UK understand the reference?)
If you can make the text fit, how about "Offensive but not quite 'Offender' " or something similar. However, feel free to ignore any or all suggestions - it's your ad after all - but you might want to fix that grammar.

Could be an alternative ad. Some companies use the same imagery with different by-lines.

ill tink about it, and people outside the UK might not understan ASBOs, so i migh change that.
