Cheers,
Drew.
For my part, yes.
Name-wise they come in a few thousand different variations, so you should be able to find one that you like and that fits your text...

3.2 not 2.5 Gotcha!
Will be in the prologue momentarily. The good ship

It semi-works. The Emerald ignores the asteroid, but in so doing flies straight into it and gets stuck up against it.
In any case the ship isn't that big compared to a rock, so it makes more sense for it to either destroy or avoid them anyway.

Not one of the options that was in amongst the few thousand...
But it is now

Which means that the HAZARD_CAN_BE_DESTROYED message isn't 100% reliable.
So the Emerald should just circumnavigate asteroids just like other ships do.
Perhaps the behaviour could be refined by combining it with a script? HAZARD_CAN_BE_DESTROYED would send a scriptMessage, and the script would check which hazard lies ahead. If it's an asteroid, it would not suppress the WAYPOINT_SET message, for a boulder it would suppress it.
The fun part would be to decide what to do if the hazard is another ship...
Thinking a little further I guess that speed is also an issue. A normal asteroid has 100 energy, I assume that the Emerald has much more, so in theory during a collision the asteroid should take most of the damage. But if the collision is too slow, the damage would be less than 100. A fast Emerald would probably plough through asteroids without problems.

The ship was already named in the text, so I've retrofitted the type as it were. It's a feline crewed vessel, hence the name...
Cheers,
Drew.

I'm also going to test having the ships escorts target and attack the hazard. Take the message response literally
Of course it might cause interesting results depending on what said hazard actually is, but for me I think just leave it as original and use a waypoint. The ship doesn't move fast enough to make ramming an option, plus as I said the asteroid size compared to the ships size wouldn't make asteroid ramming realistically a good idea anyway (think Titanic and Icebergs).

Perhaps a Generation Ship would push a whole collection of asteroids, if there were asteroids in interstellar space.
At least in theory, Generation Ships would brake (or change course) for nobody. (Also practically, the way their AI works.)
EDIT: no, it wouldn't push. Indeed, everything in the path of a Generation Ship turns into dust pretty much instantly.

Well I'm pleased to say that thanks to the ever-superb efforts of Griff, I now have a normal-mapped Emerald liner flying in a little window on my screen (just over there ==>).
And I can say, me likes very much Oh and appropriately, of all the random Emerald ships that could have been picked, my Vortex is flying a sight-seeing tour around the ASL Preen
Currently I'm just finalising the AIs for the ship and for the Aurora and Tiger Shark, then those three ships will be ready. Unfortunately the OXP is around 21MB zipped, so soon I'll have to hand over storing and hosting duties to someone else (Smivs - one for you methinks).
But just to wet your appetite - I give you the ASL Preen in orbit around Anenveza -

No problem, plenty of room here.
And I promise to distract myself from my 'main' project ASAP to finish off my Liners as well.

After much dithering and delaying, this OXP is almost ready for release and is in final testing.
Here's a screenshot of a Tigershark I found parked near a dodo station...
