Hello Sung, I noticed the link has gone, does that mean no more textures?

Yes… but is it motivated? Activity keeps it near the top; once the thread is less active it will sink away; the texture pack itself should be on Oosat2.

@Sung - I've just spent the last 10 minutes tapping <- and -> looking and relooking at your retextured ships...

Beautiful very beautiful.

I alos did what LB suggested - created a directory in the AddOns directory called sungs_new_textures.oxp, in that I put a directory called "Textures" and copied all your textures into that.

Works a treat - no need to replace the original textures at all.

Finally, I renamed your "dark_metal.png" to "sungs_dark_metal.png" and then went into the main models dir in the game and renamed in "dock.dat" and "dock-flat.dat" - "dark_metal.png" to "sungs_dark_metal.png" - that way no clashing of textures for stuff like Rock Hermits as "dark_metal.png" still exists in the in the main game Texture directory. There's probably even a way to get dock.dat and dock-flat.dat to pick up the new textures from inside the AddOns dir but I'm not clever enough to work it out tonight - too tired.

The old missile sticks out like a sore thumb now!

Note - my favourites I think are the Boa and the Thargoid - seriously well done...

I really should make an effort to install the textured planets branch now since the planets now look really odd!

The problem I've got is that Sung has really raised the bar on ship textures now - I've started my "theOO" asp again as it just looked rubbish (by comparison - a week ago I'd have been quite pleased with myself!)

However, that wont stop me getting out in the wild, it'll just look a little plain by comparison!

Have to say though I haven't had this much fun since my wife suggested we make another baby...

My feeling - lots more competition ( in a good way )
But:
That's fine - with an ever-growing output from the community the benefit for me is I'll take more time & care over my own work as I won't feel the need to get stuff out fast.

Up until recently the Oolite universe felt a little empty to me, so my motivation has been to pump more-&-more ships, asteroids, planets into it. But now it seems that critical point has been reached where every system seems to have lots going on...

Once the original ships have been updated my feeling is that contributions can concentrate on new ideas + quality rather than volume ( as I have been doing up to the present )

So my feeling is if you aren't happy with something you have done - don't feel the need to rush - release when you are happy.
Any part that refuses to come up to scratch? Hand it off to someone who you think may help. 8)
