Would it be too much trouble having a decal of the suit on one wing of each craft.

That's very true: the real purpose of the suits is simply to be easy to tell apart at a glance. So if we want we could have four space-based ones that don't have any references to standard contemporary suits.
For example we could have the red suits, or naturals: a sunburst, and a crescent planet; and the black suits, or artificials: a coriolis station, and a ship. In essence it would be star, crescent, square, triangle, but using a big picture like in Solo's example we could make them prettier.

indeed. I have often wondered about different card games with say 5 suits or more. Also the traditional 4 appear to hang more on the tarot tradition. There is no reason why you couldn't have a multi functional deck that certain cards are taken out to play certain games (like not all games need jokers) as for symbolism there are many card traditions to choose from, regular convex cydic polygons, concave cydic polygons, regular complex, maybe a variation of Zener cards might be quite cool.

Seems to me as if addons to provide different deck artwork might be an interesting option.

While Solo's been working on cards for the video poker, I've been doing the dice game. Here's a little teaser pic of the current test version:
Two more lucky guesses and I'll be cashing 400. Or if I feel lucky, then I'll continue all the way to 3500. The bet was 100.

Really neat dice game and I even like the title. It would seem Hoopy Casino's may draw a wider audience.

Excellent! And Spara's "Smuggler's Run" game looks great too.
Another good, largely automatic (i.e. needs no AI) gambling dice game, that could be given an
Oolite makeover, is
Crown and Anchor. The six symbols could be replaced by e.g. types of merchant ships, or representations of cargo, or a combination (icons for Computers, Furs, Machinery, and Liquor and Wines for the four suits, an Elite Federation logo and a Pirate symbol for the Crown and Anchor) ... we could call it "Fickle F8".

It's looking very promising. Both projects!
