Hm. The only difference I see is that the colour of "Asteroid" changed to something more washed out.
The halo around the star was at 3.5 % intensity (10 % ignoring gamma), so if you couldn’t see it you’re using a badly-adjusted or defective monitor. Old CRTs tend to have this problem.

Okay, I've played around with my monitor profiles a little bit. Turns out I only see the weaker halo with one of the pre-installed profiles, which on my machine is called 'Allgemeines RGB-Profil' (general RGB-profile). Neither the other pre-installed profiles (Adobe RGB (1998), Farb-LCD, and sRGB), nor my self-calibrated profile show it. All seems black.

But the 'Allgemeines RGB-Profil' can't be good in itself. Makes everything very blueish.

Hm... :?

@Commander McLane - there is/was a definite halo around the comet trail - but you're right about the slight change in colour in the Asteroid which is odd because my CRT machine is Ubuntu running the latest version of GIMP and my laptop is running W98SE (it's only a PII-300 IBM Thinkpad 600) running an oldish version of GIMP2 and that's where I fixed the halo - odd that the other colours should be affected - I'm going to do a side-by-side comparison with the originally colour from the original Comet advert in both versions of GIMP to see if/why the colours might have changed. (and correct if necessary - which it looks like it will be!)

As an aside - has this thread finally ran out of steam/contributions other than me?

Everybody's leaving - this is a little reminder that they should maybe go home?

As a belated farewell to Oliver Postgate, who made the first TV scifi I ever saw:

@Disembodied - that's wonderful - would have done something myself but went off on Christmas holiday with the family.

Bravo - and Ivor the Engine introduced me to the concept of dragons and I've been hooked ever since...

Inspired by something Cap'n H suggested in another thread - with a little cross-genre twist of my own.

Ok folks!
It's my first go at this and will probably not even compare to the talent that has already contributed to this thread.
Anyway..., here's mine :-

Hi Gogz - cracking first attempt - one tiny problem - the ads MUST be 256x128 pixels in size - if you can rearrange and rescale - you're onto a winner.

Keep up the good work.

Yes..., I know.

Sorry about that. Silly me, just forgot about the resize.

But hey, thank ye kindly for the encouragement.

I've been looking (and lurking) around the boards now for some time now and I think, I'm begining to feel some inspiration. :D

It kinda grows on you huh?

Cheers,

gogz69

Oh BTW, Merry Xmas! (Can't wait for 1.73  )

@Gogz - Grammatically in your Ad it might be better to be "Thargoids" (plural) rather than "Thargoid's" (implied ownership)
