Aw shucks Doc - you say the nicest things - The worst thing is having a really good idea but not the time to get it out - and then forgetting it before it makes it to the boards.

Now I've got all 300 installed my machine has started to stutter again - although I have also installed all these fabulous new stations too so I may have to pick between eye candy and the Ads - however I've just got hold of that 256MB FX5950 Ultra which should knock my 128MB FX5900XT into a cocked hat - although I could probably do with another 1GB of RAM too (only got 1GB fitted)

And a bloody hard choice it is too. Now down to about 50 of my really really favourite oxps, which includes all YAH. Still take a bit of hit but I can live with that. Some of the constores slow me to a walking pace for the last k or so.
They add a great deal to the ooniverse, color and humor.
Need more ram and a better card too.

My PC is 5 years old - I really have to pick and choose. Unfortunately YAH drops the framerate down from an ok-ish 20 fps with realistic shipyards, down to 5fps and takes about 45 secs to come out of hyperspace.

By reference I get about 35 fps on a 'vanilla' Oolite.

I think my PC is older - although its hard to tell as I built it from spare/2nd hand parts - it's an Athlon 2800+, 1GB RAM (dual channel 2x 512MB), we're both Ubuntu users I think, my fps varies from 90 down to 4 but generally hovers around 40 - YAH is my biggest OXP, then the stations (all of them), but I haven't got my other (ship) oxps installed.

Hope this one's not to obscure - will make more sense I suspect to our native English (speaking) players.

Quite a fiddly font - in the end I hoovered up loads of Waitrose online ads and cut out the letters I wanted - ransom note style!

Well that should stop the YAH thread being at the bottom of the first page for another week or so...

There still seems to be a problem with the font. The 'y' appears much sharper than the rest.

Hmmm - I think you're right - strange because the l i and y all came from the same advert at the same size - I will try a different re-scale method in GIMP and see what happens...

Having investigated the original lettering of the advert I stole the fonts from it would seem simply that the 'y' is the only diagonal letter - all the rest being pretty much straight up and down - something subtle has happened going from jpeg to png and rescaling but this slight blurring is also present on the original letters - ho hum - I may play around with it in slow time but can't really "fix" right now...

Nearly half way through the current set - 26 to go.


And just a reminder to you all: The reason that this OXP has been split up into separate sets is to let everybody enjoy ads. Most setups will be able to handle at least a single set at a time. You don't have to choose between all or nothing. Rotate and enjoy :)

D'oh! Having looked at this on the laptop rather than my CRT desktop I've just noticed the not-quite-black around the star trail - will fix back and re-upload.

Hm. The only difference I see is that the colour of "Asteroid" changed to something more washed out.
