Thanks - although having just tried:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts
Ubuntu has told me that this package is up to date - which is odd because I don't seem to have any obvious MS specific fonts - so I must be missing a trick somewhere!

It's only taken me <insert unfeasibly long time> but I finally managed to make one!
Note that I've used one of the planet textures made by pagroove (Lerelace, I think), so thanks to him for the texture...

Ive noticed that YourAdHere makes the space station (the regular one) navbuoy unreliable -- sometimes it's available, sometimes it's not. Is t here a way to make the station navbuoy always there? It's handy for getting on the right space lane where the RandomHit targets travel.

You could try adding the hardworking folks from the Galactic Repair Service, in the
BuoyRepair OXP...

I'm not sure what you mean -- I have the BuoyRepair OXP loaded now, but the repair stations are only in very particular systems. Does adding this OXP bring back the "N" on my advanced space compass all the time?

Yes, we have a contract with GalCop ($, $, $) and our transportships will replace buoys everywhere. Chairman Walch has also created a distribution system, so it's not necessary to have an GRS Facility in every system. But currently we don't have a contract with the YourAddHere Company, but this may change. You know business is a hard job, and Dr.Nil doesn't want to pay for our glorious and life saving services. But we'll see...

. I guess that means no "N" on my compass for now.... But I'm curious, because there always seems to be a "W" on the compass leading to the witchspace point even when there's an ad there instead of the buoy. Shouldn't it be possible for there to always be an "N" on the compass leading to the point outside the station regardless of whether or not the buoy or the add billboard is there?

No, it means yes :-) Our company replaces N and W buoys and for sure our own Facility buoys. If you don't have a N on your compass it could be that some escorts or hunter have crashed into the buoy. The replacement should start within a few minutes. But the exact lauch time of the tug-ship depends on the station managers abilities to coordinate docking and launching requests - so it can take a while. Usually the tug-ship is launched within 2 minutes - you just have to wait...
BTW: If you never see the N on your compass, something is wrong. Dr.Nil and GRS are using beacon codes, so is it maybe your own oolite.exe?

Well I'm still not quite sure I understand. But I checked and I am getting "N" buoys, it's just not guaranteed that I see one, and that was new after installing the slew of OXPs yesterday.
So is it the case that:
1) YourAdHere eliminates "N" buoys?
and that
2) BuoyRepair adds them back?
Or is it that buoys naturally come and go during the course of the game in native and I just never noticed? Or something else?

Well, I seem to have plenty of "N" buoys now, I'm not sure what was the problem before.
I am still waiting for my initial Oo-Haul offer, I've been in and out of convenience stores for dozens of jumps now...

Such a cool thread....
A suggestion though (I'm rubbish at graphics)...
Could somebody do an advert for the Remlok (or RemlOok!) survival mask from 'The Dark Wheel'? - "In space, everyone can hear you scream"
Cheers,
Drew.

You know, that is so original, I don't think anyone has done that one yet!

Drew - how about something like this?
Of course they've rebranded so "In space, everyone can hear you scream" is just so last season...
