Except perhaps when you first see something that you created "alive" in the Ooniverse...

Thats some time away yet :D

I 'forced' the ship in to see it, but it had no detail. Now working with Gimp on the hard part (for me anyhow) as I'm not artistic at all, this bit will prolly take the longest.

Thanks Smivs, got it bookmarked now.

After the last few days of frustration with the model, I'm off to shoot some pirates first, then go back to the new ship :wink:

That's the way to do it go and spill some Thargoid blood!

beat me to it. i still remember that thrill when i was headed for a planet and there was a brand new Vampire cruising along the spacelanes. Made all the hard work and frustration worthwhile.

Although in some ways the best bit is a few days after release when all the bugs have been ironed out and you can start to relax a bit. :)

There is an alternative to that, by the way: Iron out the bugs before the release. :wink: (In know, as a concept this is unheard-of (maybe structurally unthinkable) in the Windows-world...) :oops:

I have installed Wings3D. No, there won't be any ugly or useless ship OXP's from me, just playing around with it. Would be nice to have a tutorial handy from a Oolite perspective. The ones mentioned in the wiki are not available.

Here you go CaptSolo :)

A tip for wings3D;
Sometimes it crashes importing a model or during a UV mapping procedure.
- The cause is the software not having fully uploaded the fonts it uses.
- The cure is to go to [edit] [preferences] and click on each of the tabs in the preferences window, then click [ok] or [cancel] before starting any modelling or loading a model.

Also, when selecting edges for cutting (for unwrap UV mapping), select all edges first, then right click and click on 'Unmark edges for cutting' - this ensures a clean start point for edge cutting. I found sometimes, even though I have specifically marked edges for cutting Wings will just carve up the whole model into loads of individual triangles (or maybe that's because I model in other software & import to Wings)
