Strangely, I quite like The Carpenters. I saw them live many years ago... Karen was a live wire, playing drums as well as singing.Steve wrote:I had The Best of The Carpenters playing.
What do you listen to when playing?

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

I've always had a soft spot for Karen Carpenter's singing...she had a haunting quality to her voice.

If you can stand the fashions on display there's the suitably spacey "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft":

Me too, I listened too it when I was growing up, I guess that's why I like "Rumer" so much - the similarities are quite haunting at times.Smivs wrote:I've always had a soft spot for Karen Carpenter's singing...she had a haunting quality to her voice.

I'd bought the MP3 album from Amazon for my wife and I was just checking that all the tracks had downloaded correctly.

I really like the Carpenters tribute album. Featuring Sonic Youth, Shonen Knife and many others. And this did lead to me buying a best of of the originals (for my girlfriend, but she told me I could keep it ), so you're not alone.
Re: What do you listen to when playing?
Perhaps you should play THIS when you arrive at a seedy bar in an Anarchy system

So when the extraterrestrials show up and start zapping the crap out of the planet, which band should we blame? Klaatu or the Carpenters?
What one plays when gaming/flying will kind of vary depending on what sort of a session it is. But for wandering and exploring in general, I like things like this lately:

Re: What do you listen to when playing?
Greetings,
Found this topic interesting in the variety out there.
for me: when hunting: The flight of the Valkeries, 1812 Overture, Shostakovich Symphony #5, 1st movement.
When just riding the waves: John Denver, The Essential Marty Robbins, and my Huge collection of Dr Demento tapes/cds.
Musical diversity keeps you going and going and going....
