Snoopers2.0.7 is online.
DaddyHoggy and Disembodied are striking back .-)
Changes:
- 50 more newsflashes.
- 9 completely new pics and tweaked older pics.
- Updated test oxp with configuration for oxp developers.
- Autocollect galaxy based messages if packs are installed (not yet available).
- Changed fragment shader. Requires now uTime = "timeElapsedSinceSpawn";
- Changed model for GNN satellite. Looks nearly identical, but UVMap matches now.
- Changed Music/Reduced/Wireframe behaviour. Redux is now only used for internal news.
- Fix for Rooters flashers positions. Since v1.74 they were interfering with the model.
- Fix for 'compression' array if 2 or more news are inserted when docked and one is directly displayed.

After a long time i'am playing Oolite again. I enjoyed your oxp in my older versions but unfortunately it seems not to work with my 175.2 windows version of Oolite. All other 175 compatible oxp are working fine but snoopers don't seem to be active. I played for a few days but there where no news at all. Or is the news frequency now much lower than in previos versions?

Welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat, Grimm.
Just checked it and it looks good on my machine (Win too). The interval hasn't changed, but Snoopers needs
Cabal_Common_Library.oxp to work properly.
Additionally the behaviour has changed to work mainly on main stations. For v2.1.1 I've added a script_info key [wiki]Snoopers_Doc[/wiki] to enable the newsflashes for other stations. Reason is that a script can't really say if a station is GalCop driven, populated at all, alien, hostile, etc. and it would look a little bit out of place if a newsflash gets displayed on a Thargoid station. With the script_info key OXPers can decide if they want newsflashes on their own stations or not.
To test if Snoopers works at all, simply change the settings via OXPConfig or edit the script (this.sliderA=0xa; and this.sliderB=0x0;). If you've edited the script, restart Oolite with Shift held down to rebuild the cache. Jump to the next system and dock at system main station. If it's not working, try to fly a bit around (1 day more). At least one day (gametime) must have passed.
Another easy way of testing is to use the Test OXP for Snoopers

Let me know if it's working.

Thank you for the quick answer and the warm welcome
Cabal Common Library is installed. With the test oxp snoopers works fine. But without i get no news, even after a few game days(docked mostly on main stations). Can i just leave the test oxp installed or is it only useful for coding and testing?

I have seen no problems on my system. Also the insertion mechanism for other oxps works perfectly. In the past few weeks I have had two newsflashes from Snoopers, generated by ups. Some of the bigger ups mission insert those news flashes. This oxp interaction works great.

Perhaps you're just expecting too much action? I think the Snoopers announcements are meant to be rare events. So it is normal and expected behavior to have none of them over a few days.

You were right. This time it took a bit longer. The first news flash started about 2 gameweeks from start. Everything work like it should work, thanks for this great ambient oxp!

Good to know that it works. Thanks Eric and Grimm .-)
And CMcL is absolutely right (and your observation of ~2 weeks gametime).
Snoopers uses a algorithm that sets the interval between newsflashes (maximum interval is 25 days by default). If the interval has passed Snoopers checks the chance (default 30%) on entering the station Aegis. If OXPs have inserted own newsflashes (like Erics UPS-Courier) a additional mechanism is used when docked. This mechanism ignores the interval and raises the chance.
The DDDS team says - Have fun with Oolite...
oh, and remove the Test.oxp .-)

I wish the newsflashes weren't just 1-time events. All too often I forget to check "F8" when I get a notice.
Could these be made to remain until you read them...and then disappear?
I feel like I'm missing important news.
