Not as sorry I feel for myself, I'd wager. Am I really going to have to resort to bribery or stalking to get this fixed?
All I want is ClymAngus deleted so I can remake it. He can see that it's not been used in an age. Oh well....
Winston I will send you one WHOLE English pound (plus P and P) if you delete the ClymAngus user name from the wiki! Reply within 3 days or loose your chance to obtain said shiny nugget!

Sigh.
OK, I've disabled new user registration for now, people can PM me on this bulletin board to request user names (the BB sends me an email when I get a PM).
I think a better way of checking for spam edits would be to pass the message through SpamAssassin. It does *spectacularly* well with email with just the default Debian install on my email server. I receive over 500 emails a day, of which around 460 are spam. SpamAssassin kills nearly all of them (at least 99%), and the false positive rate is incredibly low, as far as I can tell well under 0.05% (hundreds of times better than my false positive rate if doing it myself!). It also means my mobile phone doesn't have to download all this crap since the mailserver catches it.
It wouldn't work quite as well for a wiki since there's no email headers to check (which often give the game away), but the SA engine does check things like URLs, and a whole pile of heuristics to see for various corruptions of spammy words. It generates a score for a message, and once the score hits a certain threshold, it says "ok, so this is spam".

Would there be any chance of unleashing a bot on our wiki to change all the references from
https://bb.oolite.space/
to
https://bb.oolite.space/
?

Re: The wiki - problems
Something we need to do. If that can be done by a bot? Not sure. If I owned the site I could probably go via the filesystem with grep and sed. Or via the database with a custom sql script.Cholmondely wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 2:03 pmWould there be any chance of unleashing a bot on our wiki to change all the references from

But I am not in that role.
The need to upgrade all the links could be released to install a good configuration on aegidian.org such that it sends redirect responses to clients.
