@johnsmith
I made another one for the Trumble (with some Korean letters inspired by your use of East Asian spam).

I'm honestly sorry that I made a mistake in the credits for that one  I don't know if you noticed but it's corrected now.

As long as you make a new post with the replacement as you did, I should be somewhat able to keep track of it. So that's no trouble.

Hi
heh, no, i din't notice the mistake in the credits, i changed the ad because i posted the poet jam one when i was a bit drunk and it didn't seem so funny the next day!
thanks again for all your work creating this .oxp and thanks also for including the ads i've submitted, some of my puns are pretty awful!

Just a belated thought on the navigation buoys - not only are they small but they're also symmetrical, so that a pilot can approach them from any angle before turning and lining up with the station. If you approach a nav-billboard edge-on it might be difficult to get that exact alignment without having to move around to another face, which would be a real pain when docking manually. Just need to make sure that the advertising doesn't prevent the buoy being used properly.

I like the 'East Asian spam' billboards - it's a cliche I know but the oriental style would fit particularly well with the corporate states. Another idea for the 'Flavour Expansions' thread...

Thought I'd take this oportunity to advertise my own oolite crafts.

Having these ad-boards would be very cool indeed.

The idea of foreign language adverts is also a good one. I feel though that it's pretty important for those adverts to make sense in the language they are using...

I would run the Korean one past my wife (who is Korean) but she's got a bug up her bum about games being a waste of time.

So instead in order to kill some time here at work I decided to try getting Google Translate to tell me a translation of the Korean advert text. Apparently "?? ??? ?? ??" means "Degradation life hazard evil Oh".

Good old Google Translate - always good for a laugh! :-)

At a previous job I did a rough first-pass translation of a web site into Korean using Google Translate - my wife was offended by the results. :-) (She's an odd woman, to put it mildly!)

I'd beware of this one since it looks too much like a bull's eye for most wise-ass Ooliteers to miss out on!

By the 32nd Century, wouldn't HUDs be able to translate and display billboards in the pilot's native language?

In all respect, it's the 21st Century already and we still have computers that can barely do speech-to-text, let alone understand a conversation. I don't blieve progress will be all that swift, even in the 32nd Century X3

Maybe they use a kind of universal 'Common' language, you know like Esperanto?!?!?!?!?

Captain Hesperus
"'La mango estis bonega! Dlej korajin gratulonjn' al la kuristo?'* Are you sure that right for 'Come on, it's a good bargain for 12 tonnes of Radioactives?"

*See Red Dwarf series 3 'Kryten'.

I thought there was already a system used to make billboards at football matches look different depending on what country you were watching the game in,So viewers in the UK would see them in English but in Germany the ads would appear in German. So 32nd century billboards might transmit some sort of universal signal which the HUD translates into the native language.

Then some bright spark might sell you an ad-free HUD for 10,000Cr
