Whilst traversing the Fifth, I've been pondering... and I'd rather like to see the WP-planet distance displayed in the target system section. It's something I'd like to see on F7, as it happens... it can be handy to know under certain circumstances. Of course, I've no idea if it is available before a jump, or if it could be added.

I don't know for sure, but I've always suspected that the WP-planet distance is dependent on the planetary radius. I think that the WP is nearer to big planets than it is to small ones. This might just be an illusion, of course - what's technically known as the Father Dougal effect ...

Nice idea. Wp distance derives from planetinfo.plist, so it's readable. I'll try to squeeze the info somewhere nicely.

Aye, I'm sure planetary radius (which is on F7) plays a part, but I think distances vary too.

Great. I'll polish it a bit and then it's update time. :D

If I could create my own instrument-panel hud, I'd build this MFD into it somehow - it gets a lot of use.

Sorry, my bad. Old version restored. The sun distance component needs a bit more work and testing.

New version (1.4) is up.

* "Lane" line tells the length of the main lane (wp-planet) of the system.
* Some tidying
* Oolite version upped to 1.82.

I could not get the distance from wp to sun correct (using the data from planetinfo.plist), so it's left out. Would have been nice though, so I might try it again some other time.

Sweet! Perhaps when you next tinker with it, make it Main Lane?

Now that I started to tinker with it...

Version 1.5 is up.

* "Lane" changed to "Main Lane"
* Hyperdrive status line now shows hyperspace countdown. If BGS is installed, countdown is synced to it (voice goes down to 0), otherwise countdown is synced to the core (message goes down to 1).

Have fun. :D

Oh, I am... and I'm interested in the range of WP-planet distances. Shortest so far is Lequso at 0.27 OU (it's a very small planet, radius 3083km).
