The Year of the Angry Rabbit

Admittedly found in a Google Search but that then lead to an interesting side find. The Night of the Lepus, a 1972 movie based on the book minus the novel's dark humor according to the Wikipedia page, sits firmly in my memory as one of those films one would rather forget having seen. Despite being a fan of Giant Monster Movies there is something about Giant Rabbits munching on people that just strikes an odd chord in my funny bone.

Going for a Scotland-Australia mashup: the kids' TV series Jeopardy, featuring schoolkids from Falkirk (in Scotland) going to Australia to look for UFOs. I mean, Bonnybridge is right down the road from Falkirk, but sure: go to Australia …

On The Beach (1957, film 1959, TV movie 2000) by Nevil Shute - the classic "We're all going to die of radiation poisoning but let's try not to make a fuss about it" story set in the aftermath of WW3, almost entirely in Australia.

there are a couple of bad films in 1984 and 1987... there is a 1990's tv series shot on the Gold Coast here in Queensland..... there are others im sure...

I'd guess one of our "sweetheart" sci-fi TV series: Farscape (mentioned in most of the places as an "American-Australian television series").

well Claudia Black.... but i dont remember any scenes on Australian soil....

It was some 20 years ago that Aussie-made Farscape first screened on Australian television as a Friday night sci-fi curiosity. Scenes were filmed in the car park behind the Olympic stadium, the Archery Park, sites around Homebush, Sylvania Waters, Middle Head National Park, and the Auburn Japanese Gardens.

Well, if it counts there's always Star Wars Down Under (2013), a half-hour long fan film someone made with a serious effects budget - made it to IMDB which I think counts as being something like a real movie. Features things like Ned Kelly armour stormtroopers, kangaroo mechs, light-boomerangs, the amber nectar, etc. etc.

That was ... refreshingly bizarre. And quite possibly the best addition to the Star Wars ... cannon since the original film.

Not exactly filk as filk purists would prefer it, but certainly not created by the franchise owners, so I suppose it counts. In the same way that Star Trekkin (Across the universe) would have counted if I hadn't already ruled out Trek.

Again not what I would describe as a typical filk, but the space chanty idea and amazingly pretty video sells it for me despite it being owned by the Stellaris franchise (yes, I know that this is a little inconsistent of me - I'm saving MBPs for things that are closer to the generally accepted models of filk). Three to go, and nothing more for Stellaris.
