Could we get an ad with the Hypnotoad from that animated series by Groening (creator of The Simpsons)?

Something like "Do not mock the Hypnotoad!"

Or how about a "Wanted" ad with a pic of Han Solo or Luke Skywalker?

"Wanted for rebellion and general mischief."

Here's one "quick'n'dirty" hypnotoad:

They don't need one, there's already a wanted poster for a(n) (in)famous, but lovable, rogue and misunderstood Trumble Trader.....

How about one with a picture of George Lucas, and the phrase: -
"If you see this man, shoot first!"

;-)

I do like the hypnotoad, but - sadly - I don't think we can actually use copyrighted characters inside oolite....

Hum... I've recently used Maria from Metropolis, and the Doc himself has used "Daleks! Daleks! Daleks!", so I think it's OK. Well, not OK -- strictly speaking it's a breach of copyright -- but you have to ask if anyone would ever care, since it's being used in a wholly fictional and non-defamatory context in a non-commercial product. After all, we've got Millennium Falcon, TIE-fighter and other very, very copyright ship models flying around... I say go ahead! And if I'm wrong, Gorans, I'll write to you in jail.

Don't expect me to write back. I'll probably be too busy "picking up soap" and planing my suicide.

Ah yes, this sounds like the ever increasing circle syndrome.

Isn't Oolite a breach of copyright in itself? I seem to recall spending endless hours in front of my green Amstrad monitor playing a very similar game back in the eighties. ;)

That in itself does not imply a breach of copyright; copyright does not apply to ideas, only realizations of ideas. The default models are a borderline case. Of course, if it actually became an issue being in the right wouldn’t be much help, as demonstrated by all the perfectly legal Tetris clones that have been shut down.

Hi, Doc Nil!

Completely off-topic: I would be interested to know whether 1.71 and/or 1.71.1 have solved your sticky-messages problem. (It says so in the release notes, but there hasn't been a confirmation yet.)

Copyright, schmopyright! Anyway, there's a long and honourable tradition, in advertising anyway, of ripping off other people's ideas in order to flog horrible old tat. With that in mind...

On PC 1.71.1 I haven't had a single sticky message yet! And I probabley got in about 8 hours play last weekend do the playtesting for RandomHits 1.2. I used to get them all the time on 1.70. So I'd say its solved. :D
