Also, is there a group of Ooolite E.D donators, to steer the project in the right direction? I donated last minute, although it felt very wrong paying someone else to build 'elite' when you lot have done such an incredible job over the years.

I somehow doubt there'll be much 'steering' - but you never know.Yodeebe wrote:Also, is there a group of Ooolite E.D donators, to steer the project in the right direction?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Would be way faster than reading through the (currently) 2431 pages of the Kickstarter comments section, though. Although the best source of information would be the FAQs on the main Kickstarter project page.Yodeebe wrote:My apologies in advance, as I'm sure this has been discussed, but extreme laziness dictates that I can't be arsed to read through 41 pages.
Yes, after much poking by the backers FD could finally be brought to confirm that there will be an offline single player modus. The downside is of course that you won't be able to share the changes of the dynamic server-universe. I do not know whether in this mode it will be possible to at least connect to the server once in a while and have your universe altered according to the latest multiplayer developments, or whether choosing offline single player automatically results in a total disconnection from any dynamic changes.Yodeebe wrote:Does anyone know if E.D will work standalone, without internet connection?

I will be on the Design Decision Forum, and I intend to offer you guys a say. Not sure who else is on here? Probably Drew is, as part of his Writers Pack.Yodeebe wrote:Also, is there a group of Ooolite E.D donators, to steer the project in the right direction? Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous - Kickstarter!
Minor update on the kickstarter page! Just Micheal plugging another book, as well as talking about updates. From what I gather a newsletter will happen every two weeks, and a BIG update from DB himself once a month. The big updates will be on the kickstarter itself.
So stay tuned folks! (Also, new concept art. )

Oh! and if like me you where unable to fully pledge during the initial kickstarter, they should have a new way to pledge in the coming weeks. Which is exciting, as I am completely dirt broke this month and last, but next I can easily up my pledge!

The idea of Cobra Mk III cufflinks etc seems to be quite popular on the E: D forum. <grins>
I've dropped the 'Kickstarter' bit from this thread's title, btw - that part is done!

As was discussed somewhere earlier in this thread, all very normal in this industry.Wolfwood wrote:Arguably in different field of expertise.JazHaz wrote:Funnily enough in November or early December, they shed a few jobs.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
Kickstarter update #37 is out now. Main news is that the web-app for managing pledges is live. All pledgers (kickstarter and paypal) should look out for an email which contains the link for accessing the web-app.
There's a guide on using the app on the Frontier Forums, here. Note that the forum is very busy at the moment, so I suggest giving it a couple of hours or waiting until you get your email!
