I would tend to agree, if it had smacked me into the wall in a space bar moment instead of dumping to desktop in flames.

Trying to dock with a wall is entirely Darwin, although this was a test as I was curious as to what would happen (once I'd noticed the wrong model was in use).

That definitely should kill the player, not the game.

BTW, in cases like this a test case would be nice. After all, you’ve already done the work, lazy good-for-nothing developers don’t want to have to do it again. :-)

Here is a quick chop-out of the station with the problem model. I think it's got all it needs in there, but I've not got an installed game on this PC so I can't easily test it.

Spawn TCAT_bugStation and then try to auto-dock with it. I got to final approach and then ended up on the desktop (with trunk r3280).

How far away are we from a 1.74 test release?

Oolite upgrades operate on the Debian model.. "It's ready when it's ready.."
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

The thing is guys, because its all voluntry, it is very hard to predict. Lets say for example that there is only 20 hours of work to do (thats just an example, dont get excited). It may be that it will be done this weekend, or perhaps it will be spread over the next few months.

Once thats done, there will be more testing, and thought about how happy the dev team are with it, which may insipre another round of fixes.

It really is hard to predict.

And if Ahruman were to say "Sometime in August" then he might find that in July he is giving up every spare minute he has to get ready for an arbitrary deadline.

I understand the frustration, but please also understand that it is frustrating for the dev team to be asked to name a date when they are not able to do so.
