Now watching Germany - Argentina
The hand of god wasn't seen today.

I am starting to prepare myself for a reprise of the 1974 finals. (cautiously optimistic) 8)

And heartfelt condolences to Ghana! It was so close!
Game of the tournament so far, definitely. A shame it had to end with Ghana being robbed!
That was really too bad. :(

4:0 against Argentina - "meine Fresse"

I guess noone in the world had bet money on that result.

Now tomorrow we know if we're against Spain or Gemany.

That was just the shock of van Bommel finally getting a yellow card

Oh boy, I can imagine! The last few minutes were killing me, but well deserved victory in the end! See you on Sunday ;-)

Thank you, although I have to admit I am no soccer-fan in general. But its nice. The party is still going on and I have to admit I'm getting a bit tired by all the claxons and horns. We are not World Champion yet. But I believe the people outside think they are.

The last time I was in Holland during a major football tournament, the hotel I was staying in actually carpeted the bar and restaurant with green astroturf, including pitch markings… everything else was orange, of course. The last time I was in Rotterdam, there was an almighty hail storm… worst I’ve ever seen anywhere. I have a soft spot for Holland… it’s a great country.

Good stuff! Well done the Netherlands, I say! As a child of the 1970s I have a soft spot for the Dutch team, too.

Paul the Psychic Octopus is predicting that Spain will beat Germany tonight, by the way ...

...apparently the cephalopod was correct. And frankly, it was deserved.

The Spanish play keep ball so well... reminds me of a Brian Clough-ism:
"The ball is your friend... keep it for a while, then pass it to a teammate."

*sigh* at least the hotel bar had some nice single malts to cheer up :)

Single malts... lowland, highland or island? When I was a whisky drinker, I favoured the island malts, especially from Islay.
