I think the problem is more practical rather than technical. If you use mouse control in a window, it is very easy to click outside the window, at which point the game loses focus. This is especially easy during combat (trust me, I do it all the time ;-) ). The alternative of capturing the mouse cursor inside the window is not one that I would consider attractive. So for now, we have the mouse control available in full screen, where it is not possible to click outside. If you want, you can download a nightly build (found here) and edit .GNUstepDefaults by adding this line inside the section named "oolite":

"mouse-control-in-windowed-mode" = YES;
Then, after saving and restarting Oolite, you will be able to activate mouse control in window mode and see how it plays for you.
btw i just not finding the shift T anywhere in the keyconfig.plist to assign it to something else
I knew I was forgetting something :P OK, you can add this line inside keyconfig.plist:

ok gnustep is not a vm i went to http://www.gnustep.org/information/aboutGNUstep.html and read much about it. makes more sense now and i used to have macs so i am able to use all platforms windows linux mac c=64 hehe althought i dont think i can emulate a max on my linux. i not sure i need to get a cd and see if it will install.

i use 2 lcd screens so i have oolite on one screen but it isnt full screen cuz then it takes up both screens so while running a maximized window on one screen i would only have issues with mouse running off on one site possibly. i set my screens not to wrap beyond the far right or left top or bottom edges so i think mouse will be nice. but i guess i have to use newest build? i cheated and used a .deb installer for my ubuntu for the oolite 1.73.4.

ok well i need some shuteye so i can function later thanks again!

i musta hit the reply or submit again or refreshed page idk how i got it to quote/reply without me even saying anything hehe and a duplicate too ok well i was tired. wait i am still tired. i been trippin on the oolite code all morning. i remapped many of the keys and started tweaking the hud some. making the missiles smaller. so i could show 16 on the bottom without them covering the stardate time Oo

i also been messing around with the drones a bit. and oh i bumped into a few ships and did not die instantly this time. rammed a police and he poofed while i lived but my energy E1-E8 were down nearly half for a second. recharge rate on this OMEGA is crazy.

I have/HAD?(cant seem to find it now LOL) the original PORTED? Elite floppy (.d64?) disk image playable on VICE (commodore emulator)

i used to play on a real c64...

am aware it was on BBC micro acorn computer before c64 (if i remember right) but never found a copy for it and the only acorn computers we had access too were at a school and i think the c64 was my computer of choice.

amazing how back then they fit the game on just a handful of kilobytes. imagine if our apps were all written in machine code still ... might not need these large hard drives. well cept for music so yeah keep it all midi. or sid's (c64 music) da good ole dayz! :D

DS did u play elite back then if so on what computer?

That wouldn't do much about the size and probably only around 50% more speed for a hell lot more bugs in return ;)

What's eating space is the graphics. Imagine, a single photo takes more ram than a 486 computer with windows could handle!

pfff bad habits never die.. with such bat cts i use any form of shortened broken english as possible

but on my pidgin i use the auto correct plugin to change my u to you and r to are etc etc . :D

For a start, Oolite would only run on Macs, and under emulation on anything made in the last three years. How wonderful.
